Default For the love of god...can we make a turbo cam sticky?

I for one see at least 10 threads a week on this subject. Maybe we could sticky a turbo cam thread. I know there is already info in the turbo FAQ that most people just disregard, but for the sake of argument let's just appease the masses and start a turbo cam thread. Hell it could be as simple as cubes, turbo setup, cam, heads, and then e.t. or dyno numbers.

Anybody with me?

or maybe ban all members who post up a turbo cam thread lol

As there is nothing simple about such a thread, as every setup is different. The one sure thing....is that a mild cam, will perform very well.

There are already six sticky's in this section. I would support adding one more if we could remove some of the existing stale ones.

The boosted list ntb deleted. And the real price of forced induction needs to be rolled into the considerations before buying a turbo kit thread.

I'm for it, but who's qualified to write such a sticky, or what collaborators?

You need Patrick G, Predator and other cam gods to do a theory paragraph each, and then spec a custom cam for 3 or 4 pre-listed combinations

1. STS kit
2. Big single turbo, stock cubes
3. Big single turbo, 400+ stroker
4. Twin turbo kit

Won't answer all questions but would guide a few people and cut down 100s of threads!

Totally agree

I kind of agree with 'stevieturbo' also. Even if there was a Turbo Cam Sticky, there would still be people that would create the 'What the best turbo cam' and 'Help me pick a cam' threads every week. There is no solution other than banning for the lazy that will not a little research on their own.

The problem with a sticky like that is, most of us don't really know what we are talking about.

If someone like kp wrote up a post or two that summarized his feelings on Supercharger cams, I would totally buy into it since he's run three or more cams with largely the same setup.

Sounds like you're assuming things...don't. I already have my details worked out, and I searched months ago when I started researching my kit and didn't post a what cam thread.

As far as contributors I think INTMD8 could probably share a paragraph or two on what he has found works and what doesn't. He did quite a bit of testing. Hell I'll share what little I know as it could easily stop the multitudes of threads being posted. Just thought I'd help people out without having the same info be regurgitated and then buried in the archives.

I could put something together based off of my experiences, but I doubt it would stop the turbo cam threads that pop up every 5min

Best bet would be to talk to Patrick G, or any other respected engine builders out there.

Pat G seems to be a good "camologist"

Jim could you put something together, I'll some editing for you. If you want to talk about, I can call you, but what I would do is maybe make a few general comments, and then do a few case studies... like your LT1 car, the shop car, etc.

The reason there is no turbo cam sticky is because half the people have theories and no hard data to back them up, and the other half say to call a cam company.

Most of this comes down to people not using the "search" feature. Just make a decent Turbo FAQ Thread and start locking all of the new "what turbo cam" threads after linking it to the FAQ. Sorry guys, but this is a moderation issue.

Not on this topic...but Ive tried using the search facility a few times lately...More often than not, it isnt working too well, bringing up random posts from different forums to where I wanted to search.

All the theory in the world is fine, but I would make my choices based on the people that are running well with turbo cars like W2W or SpeedInc for race cars and people like MM, Tiago and several others who have spent time with a few different cams for a street car.

Personally I think stickies are pretty useless since the target is moving constantly, 2 years ago a 700hp turbo car would have been 'big power' and now thats nothing so anything in the sticky would be rather useless.

I dont mind seeing the cam threads, every one brings out some new ideas and experiences plus some good (and bad) debates. Just dont click on them if they annoy you so much, just like I seldom click on 'tuning' threads because there is so many different ways of doing things 10 different people could be right. Same with cams, what works for some may not work for others depending on the parts they are using.
