STS Turbo kit near gas tank???
Is this a problem. I looked at the pix and it looks dangerous. Those turbos get REAL hot. Someone explain. Let me know if I'm just misinformed, but that looks DANGEROUS to me.

Not a problem!!!
The factory heat shield is PLENTY of protection...
Plus with the turbo in the rear, it does not get THAT hot... Not NEAR as hot as a a traditional front mount!!
PM me if your interested in getting a kit! We are having some DEEP discounts right now!

dude don't buy sts. there has been 2 or 3 kits released in the last 6 months that are better. little more money but better. i put a sts kit on a guys camaro. dynoed 450. not to bad. but for 5000 plus other things. i wouldn't buy a sts kit. used them for three years. they suck. you need the heat. it helps boost you faster.
any more questions pm me.

I got my kit mildly used for a pimp price...pretty satisfied with it considering what I paid and what I could have paid if I did the H/C/bolt ons/rear-end/clutch, etc... package that yields similar results.

Why all the STS haters?
99% of STS haters.. DONT EVEN HAVE AN STS KIT!!
There is nothing wrong with an STS kit..
Im knocking on 500rwhp door on 8psi with an intercooler, full boost @ 2800 rpm's...
Its not a shitty kit, and it makes PLENTY of power, and its about 2000 dollars less than a tradititonal front mount, that might make 30 more rwhp and spool about the same....

STS has it's advantages. Cost and ease of installation are tops. However, for maximum power and system efficiency, it's not the greatest.

I chuckle when I see all these STS threads. I was one of the early adopters. I still have mine, and I still like mine. I understand its strengths, as well as its weaknesses. I was in another thread and saw the picture of the rubber isolators that I used to silence the banshee that STS calls an oil pump (it is actually a scavenge pump that can be used for multiple things). I see that even the installers are now wrapping the exhaust so that more heat energy is transferred to the turbo. I see that STS haters are still spreading their messages through threads that are only asking for information, not for negative comments.
I commend those who support, promote and defend the STS system. It, like every single other forced induction system, has its shortcomings. The key is to understand them and to emphasize the system strengths.
Keep it up, folks.

The ERERERERERERRRERERRR from the oil pump is a small price to pay for only 4 sundays worth of work to install the entire kit .

And that one, 2000TurboVert, is a fact, not bashing. Just the way it is when a simple fix is not implemented by the manufacturer.
