Default How necessary are dual valve springs on 12 psi ls6 heads

How necessary are dual valve springs for a yellow spring ls6 head engine? I'll run up to 12 psi on 9:0-1 comp. Replacing the pushrods for sure.

Thanks

How would NEW stock yellow LS6 beehive springs handle a stock LS6 cam with 12psi of boost?? Think it would be okay since they're NEW?? They're cheap in price at scoggin dickey....no offense for the hi-jacking but i need to know this also. THANKS!!

for the extra $120 for the dual spring setup that will take a beating and keep a valve from dropping/floating and destroying your heads and engine i say get them

I would still upgrade.. It's cheap insurance like Avengeance said... You'll really be kicking yourself with you float a valve and have to replace a piston... I believe a 918 spring has more seat pressure than the ls6 spring and I still don't think I would run them... These are just my belief... I know KP said that he ran a single spring (don't remember which) and he ran it into the 10's... I won't try it because Kevin has the luck of a person that wins consecutive lotteries... He's been very fortunate with his setups...

I just assumed I had to use them but have read many people and several kits don't have/include them. I think I'll grab a set.

Where are they $120. All I've seen have been in the $200 range.

And I wasn't sure if on low comp pistons a floating valve would mean some backfiring or piston punching

he's talking about $120 more than the ls6 valve spring kit... I got mine slightly used for a lot cheaper...

I am running stock LS6 springs with my 7psi. But I believe above that boost you do need stronger springs. I would go with the stronger springs with higher boost.

Once that boost gets into the chamber, it pushes against the valve, so you need a stronger spring to counteract it. There is a formula you can do to figure what your seat pressure is with XX boost.

I would not run LS6 or CC918's for boost applications. Doesn't Patriot or ETP sell a drop in HD spring?
