Default Powerdyne....Am I the ***

I called Powerdyne yesterday becasue I was intrested in there SC for my 02 WS6. On there website they showed a model for that year. I was really intrested in it for my mostly stock car...I wanted a quieter SC. They told me that they didn't have one for the '02, just everyone before it. I said no problem, "when will it come out?" He said probably never, and i asked why. Well, he got very defensive and wouldn't say anything at first. I started probing and asking more questions. He said it was not up to him. I said no problem, let me talk to the person who is in charge of those decisions and he said that was the owner. He said I wouldn't understand the reasons...."maybe its because it cost too much to program". So I asked if that was the reason and he admitted to it. WHAT THE HELL? This guys attitude was getting worse and worse the more questions I asked. I was actually being very polite, so I could find more info out. He was really pissing me off with his attitude. Next I asked to speak with the owners secretary to set up an appointment to speak with him to see if I could cover some of the cost. He said no, that he spoke for the owner and if I wasn't a friend he wouldn't speak to me. What a dick! So, needless to say I am very pissed off. Is this companies customer service that bad. I own my own business too. I don't treat anyone like that. I also don't feel above talking to "strangers" about spending their money with me. Am I the ***?

If you want quiet buy a Vortech. I had a powerdyne and they need a LOT of work to give decent performance.

no your not being the *** they are.
they seem to be very hit and miss with customer service. I never had any issues when I dealt with them.
if you really want a powerdyne you should get one used ($1500 or less) and be prepared to tweak it for your setup.
but if you need a turnkey kit the only choice is vortech or ati, vortech probably being the most turnkey.
both company's I believe can get you a head unit that is pretty quiet. won't be as queit as a PD but should be reasonable. in both cases they will make more power too.

Save your money and get a 422. The place where I got tuned yesterday had one on the dyno that made more hp than my powerdyne/heads/cam/headers. Powerdyne is good if you get one cheap and have access to tuning and a new fuel system. Other than that, go BIG.

Powerdyne is a bunch of suk-wads for lack of a better term. I had one on my 95 stang and I installed one on my buddies 89 stang. They performed well but if you have any warranty issues or need any kind of assistance you might as well go and I would buy something else.

Sounds like Sam still works for P*dyne and the customer service hasn't changed. I'm surprised they're still in business.

I called Powerdyne afew days ago. I have a budy that was selling one off his 90 5.0 Mustange, I wanted to see how much it was to get the mounting brackets and what not to make his ford kit to fit my GM truck. The guy at powerdyne was not really interested in priceing it out. At all.. I had cash in had and a budget... I guess he had beter customers that wanted whole kits, not parts.

But Ive called them befor and asked if I could tour the factory and they were very friendly. (I never made it to the tour SEMA show got in the way)

I don’t think that Powerdyne units are that bad (I have only owned one supercharger). The unit for my truck was cheap, about $2,500 for the whole kit. The only wrong parts were the belt (too long) and 2 bolts were coarse thread instead of fine. Kit went on with few problems. It is very quiet. From the outside you only hear it if I rev it above 3k rpms. Inside, you hear a slight whine/whistle. As far as service, just forget about it. The only consumable parts are the ceramic bearings and cogged belt. Both items last about 50-60k miles. Replacement belts and bearings can be had for under $100. For part numbers look under the powerdyne forum on www.superchargersonline.com

P.S. Powerdyne is the only centrifugal blower that I know of that makes boost under 3k rpms. I have a full 2 psi at 1,500 rpms!

Good Luck!

cdhd2001....you've missed the point of this particular forum! They will not make one for my vehicle ('02 WS6) and they were rude to me when I called. But, I am happy that you like yours. I'll never know! Have a good day.

Sorry you feel that way. You could always buy one for the 01 ws6 and install on yours. Considering that 02 (or 03) was the last year of production for the camero/firebird and their was no change in power plants, then it should fit. At worst you have to get custom tuning. It seems that all of us blower guys get custom tuning anyway since the provided tuning is always marginal.

Hope you have a great day!
