Dyno'd Again - Got Problems, Help Me Well, I dynoed again . . . the last time was 475/495 at the wheels, but it was so damn hot today ( forecast 113, not sure what it was at the dyno ), I thought I'd see around 450/475 . . . but even in the heat, I squeezed out 462/486! And that was with what turned out to be multiple misfires in cylinder 3. I autotapped on the way home and had a staggering 369 misfires in that cylinder! Even idling I had 67 misfires in a 20 second log. So today's dyno was on 91 octane, no water/alky, and 7psi. Once we bumped it to 8psi the car was breaking up bad. So I'm gonna check #3 and see what's up. But something else: My car is starting weird. I get good fuel pressure, but the car just cranks and cranks. Then it just manages to catch and stumbles for a few seconds, and I get a strong gas smell. It's almost as if it's flooding itself. The only thing that has changed is I put a Kenne-Bell boost-a-pump on the car. Any ideas on this problem?? - Dug |
Re: Dyno'd Again - Got Problems, Help Me plugs, plugs, plugs :) Who knows, maybe it will fix the other problem too. |
Re: Dyno'd Again - Got Problems, Help Me you better hope it's a plug. sounds more to me like you roasted your ringlands on cylinder #3 I would pull the plug and if doesn't look obviously wrong a compression check and leak down test are definetly in order. 8psi and 91 octane on a super hot day = bad move IMO hopefully I am wrong but I would start preparing myself mentally for a rebuild. good luck and let us know how it turns out. |
Re: Dyno'd Again - Got Problems, Help Me I honestly don't think it's the weather . . . at 7psi I had ZERO knock show up, and it worked like a champ. It didn't break up until 1 more pound of boost was added. And I've got timing down to 15 at peak torque, and running 12:1 A/F. I dunno, I will be checking all the things you guys are suggesting, I'll let you know what turns up. Thanks! - Dug |
