Blower Friendly Cam
I didn't really know which would be better to post on so I'll try here. I want to put a P1SC on a stock displacement LS1... I hope to have h/c, forged pistons, and connecting rods and other supporting mods done before the S/C. I want to get 500 rwhp, without sacraficing drivability.
Now I'm working towards that and a step I'll be taking soon is h/c I'm going with AFR heads but I'm still unsure what I want in a cam... I guess if I could have some people that are running similar builds to what I'm aiming for please PLEASE tell me your cam specs and any information you can possibly share about the powerband & drivability of that cam.

I have this cam and drivability is not an issue. As far as the powerband it seems to be just like the factory cam powerband IMO. Oh yea, 3rd gear pulls over 3500 rpm are the best but when I go forged, I might go with something more radical..

We have used the Lingenfelter GT2-3 camshaft in a lot of our builds. It is a very mild camshaft that has a smooth idle. Here is one Corvette that we used this cam in.

I'm a fan of the lingenfelter cams but to add in some input to this thread.....the Z06 cam on stock cubes has had some very favorable results. Keeps good driveability and provides better numbers than stock.

I have a custom cam thats a bit bigger than the GT2-3. I did have that cam before the current one. I made 8 more rwhp with this one. Not much of a difference. Now I'm pulling this one out and going bigger.

look into Speed Inc, they have a few blower grind cams that are very capable of making some big power. I put one in my car that is now listed as the SC-3 and that cam and the Livernois 243 heads resulted in a big difference in the seat of the pants dyno and that's before betting into boost with the maggie 112.

Blower cams are easy to pick, depends on how much money you want to spend and the power band, etc you want. If you are going for max power and want to match your combo nicely than get a custom one spec'd but generally off the shelf cams can have great results with blowers.
Best bang for buck, get the 02+ Z06 cam
Lil more power, get a speed inc cam something like 224/228 114LSA for stock cubes with great driveabilty, etc

Thanks so far guys I'm starting to get a good picture in my head...
A question thats running through my mind as I'm reading through the specs your guys provided is, how much lift is going to cause me to replace my springs very often I want something thats reliable and durable too...

hey man get some good springs, pushrods and all that good stuff throw in the cam you end up with. heads you can get later
the blower put it on the stock shortblock will be good for 500rwhp but i would change the con. rods bolts with some ARPs just to be safe
if you have the money to spend go for it but dont forget the trans, rearend and the other things that it takes to hold up to that +500rwhp and have fun with the car good hunting

I didn't mean it that way... I have full intention of doing Heads, lifters, pushrods, retainers, springs, rockers and all with the cam install... I just mean what lift parameters will degenerate and deteriorate engine components?
