Will a pair of T04E's spool quick on a 383? Looking for twins that will spool fast and run around 700hp, or what ever hp# I can hit with a comp ratio of 8:9-1 and on pump gas. It seems, after reading the entire last year of posts, that I could run 13 psi on pump with a good tune, remove timing to 17' and hit the 650 mark. I have: 383 forged, port/pol ls6 heads, cam, and intake, 60 lb injectors, there will be little exhaust because it's in an open framed vehicle. My main goal is faster spooling rather than max hp, and would like a little room for hp growth if running 100%vp and add some boost down the road. Thoughts. |

Thoughts. my first go at turbos, \ 355 cubes, twin to4 super E, 57 mm , stg 3 wheel, .81 a/r single entry, 12.5 psi = 750 hp 721 tq engine power 16 psi = 851 hp / 847 ft/lbs 20 psi = 903 hp / 888 ft/lbs 237 / 237 @ 114 cam install @ 110 centre line oem, std heads, 5000 series stainless valves, flat tappet cam. max torq from 3800 to 5100 rpm, ( flat line.....graph) max hp @ 6100 rpm 7.2 : 1 COMP RATIO. cheers ash |
THESE T3 /T04E'S 57mm stopped flowing around 5800-6000 rpm with 383 cubes, i would go turbonetics 62-1 's , with stg 5 wheel, and they will make 1000-1200 hp in twins.. ( go forced induction.com ...... get a hybrid custom build for alittle cheaper $$$$ ) spool time on trans brake would be 10 psi @ 3200 full boost @ 4500- 4600 rpm if this a street car, build it for torque, able to shift the load..... anything over 600 ish hp and just blow the tyres clean off your ride. cheers ash |
I Have Had Real Good Luck With My Twin Gt67. Contact Jose @ Forced Inductions I Am Sure He Will Have The Awnser For You. |
Crashly, what A/R on your compressors? Sounds like a nice setup. Thanks, Jeff |
this will be going into a off road car with paddle tires so traction isn't an issue, |

Called up Forced Inductions and get an Air Werks/Borg Warner turbo. That'll solve all your problems |
[QUOTE=crashly;8750257]-------------------------------------------------------------------- my first go at turbos, \ 355 cubes, twin to4 super E, 57 mm , stg 3 wheel, .81 a/r single entry, 12.5 psi = 750 hp 721 tq engine power 16 psi = 851 hp / 847 ft/lbs 20 psi = 903 hp / 888 ft/lbs Was any of this on pump gas? This almost sounds right because I think I'll drop the rev limiter to 6000. But generally most think the 0t4's will be to small... |

Thoughts. to4e will support 450 hp each at around 15 psi. get stage 3 wheel in a .84 housing for hp up to 6200 rpm if you are looking for more down low like 5800 go with .63 a/r or stage 5 wheel .63 housing for greaat all around |
Good info: I was looking for quick power and torque. In the sand it's all about instant power, that's why I went and stroked it, and plan on dropping red line to 6100/6200 rpm from the 6500 factory. Mainly aiming for as much boost as I can run on pump gas at 8:9-1 comp ratio and get the most instant power I can get. Seemed like the t04e's were descent for that goal. |

Should I run a t3/to4e, or a standard to4e? |

What hp would you think that would get me? You had: 355 cubes, twin to4 super E, 57 mm , stg 3 wheel, .81 a/r single entry, 12.5 psi = 750 hp 721 tq engine power, max power at 6000. That right there sounds good, how might the t3/t4 compair. At what rpm did your t4 setup hit 12 psi? Thanks |

Thanks ok.... 355 cubes @ 6100 = 626.6 cfm 626.6 @ 12.5 psi ( 1.85 p2/p1 ratio) = 1159 cfm 1159 cfm = 80.1 lb/min of air 80 lb/min = approx 800 hp ( this calculation does not account for air temp increase... is a guess-a-mate.) we made 750 hp therefore your 383 383 @ 6100 @ 12.5 boost = 864 ish hp or 86 lb/min air or 43 lb/min each turbo i never had t04 turbos on 355 cube engine... always had t3/t04 turbos ... engines built where, : twin 57's with stg 3 turbine wheel , twin 61's with stg 5 turbine wheel , twin 66's with stg 5 turbine wheel , all on t3 turbines housings only t04 turbos i got are twin 76mm's on 358 cube engine, sheet metal intake etc, etc just get a set of 57 super E's or 60-1 's and hook in..... your extra cubes should make MORE power. we made 2.86 hp per cube on 355 cube , oem heads, oem valve sizes, NO PORTING, oem block, 7.2 : 1 static comp ratio, flat tappet cam . 355 cube with twin 61's went 1250-1300 ish , max rpm 6600 rpm just get a set of 57 super E's or 60-1 's and hook in..... you have always stated, you want good spool and instant power.... the t3 to4 super E's( t3 stg 3 / 57mm) had .75 psi boost at idle.( 1600 rpm) the gtk 550's ( t3 stg 5 / 61mm comp ) had .5 boost at idle .( 1600 rpm) just get a set of 57 super E's or 60-1 's and hook in..... actually dyno results my t3/t4 twin 57 mm super E's set up 12.5 psi made 750 hp and 721 ft/lbs 16 psi made 850, n 848 20 psi made 950 ish 24 psi made 1016hp and 960 ft/lbs 4000 rpm , full boost max power @ 6100 rpm locked 20 deg timing 3 different cams dynoed , basicly all the same results 237/237 @ 114 .510 valve lift 256/245 @ 114 .509 valve lift 258/258 @ 114 .650 valve lift (roller) with the cams, pick a number between 200 and 250 , run both intake and exhaust on same number , pick a number between 114 and 116, put the lob sep on that, bang it in ther motor.. IT WILL WORK... just get a set of 57 super E's or 60-1 's and hook in..... could i drop anymore hints????????? |
You are awesom. Thank you for your help. |
