Meth only no intercooler? I see alot of mustang guys do it and was wanting to try it myself. I was adding up the price and weight of a good air to water setup and its alot of weight. I am just about ready to start building this setup and was wondering how many of you dont run an intercooler. Pic of some of my parts http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...turbostuff.jpg |
also will a 60mm tial WG be enough for the 106mm on a 370 with it dumped |
Most of the mustang outlaw guys w/o intercoolers are running alcohol efi or a blow through alcohol carb set up. Is this what your refering to or are you talking about running gas with meth injection? |
gas with meth |
I thought you ment strait meth!!

you are going to need an i/c if you plan to run any when its 80 plus degrees. The meth will keep it tolerable when its hot. |
if i had to chose between intercooler or meth and only pump gas was available I would choose meth. I've run my car intercooled and nonintercooled, the meth far outperformed the intercooler on my 500hp set. Inlet temps measured in the lower manifold just before the head showed the same temp intercooler/meth vs. nonintercooler/meth. The meth works better the hotter the charge is. Now, if your talking about 35+psi and 1000hp+ i would elect the liquid intercooler/race fuel set-up |
Run both. |
Dont go gas w/o an intercooler.... the IATs at full boost will be hot enough to melt temp sensors. f you go fuel, run the largest A2W you can afford If methanol then you will need either 2 sets of 160lbs or a set of the qtp 220lbs and 100psi fuel pressure along with a Belt Driven pump. |
just race gas and meth. It will be a big meth nozzle. The motor wont be nothing crazy so a 1000hp with a pt106 should be in the 10-15 psi range I would think. Has anyone done any real world testing with this? The car wont be racing in the heat but a 100pounds less in the car looks good to me. |

run it on e-85 and upgrade the fuel system... |

Not exactly correct. IATs follow boost pressure, so you can't go high boost without an external cooler, be it meth and or an intercooler. Low boost (generally accepted as 5 psi or so) do not need an external cooler to be safe. I run 7 psi with the IATs about 70 degrees above ambient, which has not melted any sensors that I am aware of. But I also monitor things with AutoTap, so I watch what happens when I drive. i was under the impression that he was going to tey and competitively race his car and go full tilt. I dont see the point in going with a 106 and only running 12-15 psi and not going balls to the wall with boost(30+). |

I am going to do a lsx later and just wanted to build the turbo setup big so i dont have to do it again. Beside the heads are going to lift off any way with this motor. If i dont do an intercooler the car should be under 3050 with me in it. Its not something I am going to race every weekend. 30+psi with pt106 = heads on the moon |
Why not run an A2A and meth? |
i dont have a good place to put an a2a, weight, boost drop, extra tubing(4inch gets in the way quik) and cost |
i was running E85 and Meth because my 42# inj and fuel system couldn't keep up on just E85. I upgraded the system, still not enough, installed 60's,,,,,, still not enough. If you plan on running E85 and make over 600hp just get some 95# inj and be done. BTW, anyone got a set for sale? :) |
