I have been trying to decide which heads would be the best for my turbo WS6. I have been thinking that I was going with the LQ4's but than the option for the LQ9 presented itself. Is the LQ9 worth the extra cash or would a LQ4 head with porting be the way to go?

I have also been told that a heavily ported set of ls1 heads would produce the same performance.

any info would be appreciative.

well you want lower compression hence go with the 6.0 liter truck heads.

you could go with ls1 heads if you lowered your piston compression.

As far as anyone can tell, there is no difference between LQ4 and LQ9 heads. The difference is in the pistons.

Now 6.0L vs LS1 there is a big difference in flow and chamber size. LS1 combustion chamber size = 66.67cc vs the 6.0L = 71.06cc. I don't have specific flow #'s but the 6.0L casting is very similar to the LS6 head.

The casting number is 317. As far as Valvegod (Shaun Carter) knows, there is no LQ9 specific head. All the castings he sees have the same number on them. Shaun is the guy that sources all the head castings to the folks at TEA and the like, so he sees hundreds of these castings.
