Rob, are you going to address all those cracked primaries on the system MightyMouse is selling? Would something he did cause those to fail, or was it in the welding. I am not trying to start anything, just trying to find out why they are cracked.

-Geoff
i have the same question. would that be something considered warrenty?

one thing to consider, about all turbo kits made with stainless instead of cast manafolds will crack. turbotech cracks, CAS cracks, and QTP cracks. I havent heard of incon cracking though.

If it were a defect, we would gladly cover it. However, there are many factors to consider. What A/F was the customer running? Was the engine experiencing extremely high Exhaust Temps? Was the car ever damaged (i.e. piping damaged during installation, pipes blown off car, damaged motor mount, etc, etc). Simply too many possibilities to make a blanket statement.

Exhaust Temps can play the biggest role in manifolds cracking. As Smokinhawk said, nearly every stainless manifold cracks. One GM example...who owned a Turbo Buick that didn't crack the driver side manifold? Probably NOBODY. And guess what...it wasn't considered a warranty part (I know, I bought one brand new), because it was "wearable". Just like brake pads, tires, etc.

i.e. if you have a problem a vendor could pick any of the above to turn your warranty request down.

Any high performance turbocharger kit should be engineered to withstand certain operational limits. But given the efficiency of the exhaust design; using the prescribed turbine quite possibly overran those limits on my application. Things would have definitely lasted longer had I been prescribed the larger/less restrictive turbine given the exhaust design and application.

Rob what gas are you using?

I left a message for you with Brian yesterday.

Are you also towing with the Harley truck?

wow i didn't know exhaust was considered Wearable.
when i was a kid i had a TTA and the turbo went bad and i had it replaced by GM i guess i got lucky. i know a turbo and exhaust Manifold are different but is there a limited warrenty on your products like a time frame? i am wondering since i am looking into a Turbo kit for another 98 i picked up 2 days ago and since i have a stock CI motor with forged internals sitting on the floor a turbo would be kinda nice since i also have a D1 car. thanks for the info .

I want to know what gas he was running?

As for the crack in the CAS TT kit, I got a new one sent to me free of charge. so I guess its how the person looks at it.

You were, numerous times. But you said you "couldn't afford it at the time".

Rob,i dont know whats going on here but to me it seems that you attack MM all the time.. is there something else here. i noticed in Warbirds threads you brought up MM a few times. does this have anything to do with him selling his QMP turbo kit?maybe i am missing something but "to me" i havent seen him call you out in the way you have in your posts. i dont know either one of you , other than both of you are mods at LS1.com and you own QMP..

KHShapiro - Then obviously you guys who don't understand what I'm saying, haven't been following all of the Turbo posts lately. He clearly made the point that his manifold may not have cracked if it didn't have so much backpressure, and if he had been "prescribed the correct turbo from the beginning". I was only defending myself from his claim. Which may not be obvious to you, but I can guarantee you it's VERY obvious to the people who have been keeping up with the debate.

I'll post the dyno sheet when I can, as I said before. Why is it SO important? It looks basically just like the one on the website now.

''if you ONLY are looking for 600rwhp, then the 63 will work fine for you'' that's what you told me and that's the entire reason i went with the 63. if i'd have known it wouldn't do more than 530rw in this application then I would have gone with the ''76'' er 74 or whatever obviously.

oh please afford it? i'm not able to write off my purchases but i do keep money in the bank. we agreed that if the car was running well enough to max out the turbo over 600rw that you would upgrade me to the 76 or 74 for $800 and trade for the 63, which is something else that did not happen.

anything else i can clear up?

I've been lurking the debate and it's not clear to me. It seems like a few people have had more than usual difficulties with your setup and you are throwing up your arms and pointing the finger at them. Just this outsiders POV.
