1-Rob, I'm guessing you ran with 110 leaded gas?
Yes, Turbo Blue 109 leaded.

2-Why not turn it up and run straight C16? How much more power do you think you would pick up?
Give me time my brother! I've only been to the track once! I'm really not sure how much more, if any, that it will pick up. Actually, I think the T-74 is about at its' limit on HP already. But I have another turbo being built as we speak. Can you say, 800rwhp on stock cubes?? Sure you can.

3-So that crank is a billet 3.622 stroke?
Exactly.

4-I'ts very cool to see what your setup is doing with a longblock similar to mine, Harlan's or Scott's... I am surprised it does not peak higher, do you think a 116-117 LSA would push the peak up a lot? Is it worth it?

I don't think so, but it's possible. Like I said, I think I'm just out of turbo. This is the same size turbo I ran before on the car with teh ARE 375ci, and made 707rwhp. Also on my Buick, and made 731rwhp. But with the Buick, it still had an AOD trans, and stock rear end. So I figure that the drivetrain loss explains the rwhp difference. PTE rates the Turbo for 900FWHP. If you figure a 20% driveline loss on my Z, you would get 720rwhp. Pretty close, huh?

I should know for sure in a few weeks. As soon as Garrett gets my turbo done.

I'd love to see someone crank out 800rwhp with a 348ci setup.

We plan to run mine at 11:1 AF at WOT with the FAST.

5-So if the turbo maxes out the peak will be lower?

6-What happened to that T88? you had at the end of last year?

7-Are your heads o-ringed?

348 or 346? Rob's is 346, right?

It oughta fly. (<--Kentucky slang)

Yes.

6-What happened to that T88? you had at the end of last year?
I still have it actually. Figured the small cube motor couldn't use that much turbo. Plus, it wasn't a direct fit to our turbo kit. MAJOR fabrication for that.

7-Are your heads o-ringed?
Nope, they are not. No big studs either. BTW, on the way home from the dyno, I hammered on it a few times. I couldn't resist...I turned the boost up to 23lbs. Just to see if it would handle it. I made a full run (1st,2nd,3rd gear) and logged the run on the FAST. A/F maintained a near-constant 11.0:1, with no KR. It pulled HARD down low and mid-range, but seemed to die off near 5700rpm's. We are changing the gears from 3.50's to 3.25's today. That way I think I can stay in the efficiency range of the engine/turbo longer through each gear. Guess we'll see this weekend.

That's what's so great about the FAST system once you have it dialed in, you turn the boost up, and A/F stays exactly the same.

Regarding cubic inches - The cylinders were honed .005.

3.905 = 348ci, that's what ScottWS6, me, Harlan have... Very interesting comparos I am a big proponent of the stock cube movement.

8-How fast might you go with the new turbo?

PSJ- I'm not too sure how fast it will go. Just that it will go, or blow.

Allen - Thanks. You've got fax.

Thanks Z00!

BTW, the 701rwhp graph, for some reason lost it's rpm signal at the beginning of the pull. That's why part of the graph is missing.

Which is why I posted the next closest HP graph. I also have a graph of the 758rwtq number from earlier in the day (when the engine was cooler). I'll put it up too as soon as I get my scanner repaired.

Vince - It wasn't actually that your Fax didn't work...but the line was busy all day. So maybe I did dial the wrong number. Anyway, do those graphs make you happy now??

Those graphs make me MORE than happy... It is nice to see such a broad power curve. Now I see why you get that heavy car that the track.. Looking at your graph has convinced me TURBO is the way to go.

Rob : Congrats again if you dont mind i would like to ask you a question : Did you monitor your oil temps after races or ..lets say driving the car under a fw wot continus runs?I am interested about turbo Ls1 s oil temp.I bealive turbo Ls1s will face oil cooling problems.Maybe not on a drag track but on a few minutes of high speed driving under those hot summer days even with a oil cooler kit.Your data is valuable to me.Also this question is everybody with a turbo ls1 engine. Thanks

Rob,
Nice graph!

Are you running mainstuds and headstuds? Stock diameter headstuds?

What do you think the stock crank will handle with good rods and pistons with about 9.5:1 comp and the 74 turbo? Would 600RWHP reliably on pump gas be possible?

Also was this through a completely stock kit or your huge front mount cooler?

thanks again and great job,
Chris

Rob, so you basically built a "budget" motor with a bolt-on turbo kit. What is the difference between the stock PCM and the FAST system? I own LS1-edit, but I am going to have someone help. What was you fuel system like? Boost reference, sumped fuel cell, -10AN fuel lines? How about the TB, MAF, and exhaust components? How about a tuning down for street, "pump gas" run? I would like to see the M6 in it
