Turbo Guru's inside please... Alright guys, heres the deal. I'm currently running a 408ci with, patriot heads, blower cam, and fully forged internals at 8.9:1 CR. I've got a D1SC on the car right now and really want to go to a big single turbo. I'd like to make close to 4 digits HP wise and be able to trap around 150ish through the 1/4. Mind you, this is a 6speed car but I may soon convert to an auto over the winter depending on how this setup goes. With that being said, do you guys thing this type of turbo setup would be sufficient?(taking into account that the fuel system and everything drivetrain/suspension wise is already complete)- -Precision PT88 turbo T4 .96 a/r -60mm wastegate -2.5" crossover with 1/2 t4 flange o2 sensor bungs -truck manifolds -3 in charge pipes. -3.5" down pipe -50mm BOV -24x12x3 intercooler And FWIW, i've got an Alky Control kit already on the car. Also, any issues with Precision turbos? Thanks in advance guys for your time/suggestions/thoughts, Chris |
FMIC is too small IMO, may look into an air to water for the PT. A good 24x12x3 is out of its range past 4-600 hp. Air to air and pt88 sound funny in the same sentence. |
Oh and I would look into a cam change also. |
look ok maybe do 4"dp their are plenty of cams to choose from best bet get a custom grind mine is 236/236 602.602 on 114 |
[QUOTE=trans2000am;9526299]look ok maybe do 4"dp /QUOTE] +1, bigger the better... |
i dont think ive seen anyone make 1k hp with that turbo you mentioned either. |

i see small displacement carb setups,1 was on an engine dyno.He wont put down those kind of numbers on a larger 408....especially with a small downpipe and an A/A intercooler |
Thats true time to look into a bigger unit then that one, and also a different intercooler. |
With that motor...1000rwhp would be very hard to do. |
Don't bother with a cam swap. I'm trapping 146 mph in the quarter at full weight with a little T76GTS on a crappy LTx motor at low-ish boost, all using a blower cam. Turbo cams are WAY over-rated. Precision turbo's are quality and the T-88 will definitely get you over 150 in the quarter. However, there are new units like the ST80 out that are physically the same size and will spool quicker and make more power. 3.5" downpipe will get you to 150+ in the quarter, no problem. Mike |
