MMS and big Dyno number?

Default MMS and big Dyno number?

We all have seen the big dyno numbers Mike has for his FI C5's. I am just wondering how he does it. It seems no other tuner is getting these huge numbers. I am in no way talking trash I am just wondering what he does that is so special. Most of his setup are head and cam cars running 8lbs. of boost making 640rwhp/540rwtq. Now I have to admit the torgque isn't very good but it is stock displacment with a procharger. I know boost is relative to manifold pressure, but still 8lbs boost with 91 octane and such good numbers. WHat do you guys think? Anyone seen 1/4 mile times for these cars? I am thinking about getting my 408cid F1 prochager tunned by him what do you guys think? Also they say that FAST isn't the way to go but instead, the stock computer should be used. I have heard many things about maxing out the MAF not to mention running out of Hi-impediance injector. How could this be?

He likes to use more timing and lean it out more than I like. MMS has always been big about putting down big dyno #'s to drive sales.

Ask for a conservative A/F and Timing setup. Make sure it's documented and not a dyno bragging rights tune.

I believe QMP posted a VERY significant difference beteen a pump gas tune and a race tune. Race fuel, high timing and enough boost can get you a lot.

If this is MMS's peak "race gas" tune, it could be quite high. I doubt MMS is outright lying. But, I always give my own vendor disclaimer when I read these vendor results, wonderful as they are:

"Results may vary."

They have a lot of time and money to sink into their pet projects. I don't believe you will match their level of success. But, over time you may come close.

Might want to look at my MMS dynosheet. I did a before/after dynotune from a twin intercooler setup to a single. I gained 42rwhp, but: 1) at 6,000rpm (125mph) the sparkplugs were being blown out (note the drop in power of the final run) 2) The gain was accomplished by leaning it out.

Due to lean tuning and not tracking my boost level, I broke #7 piston and cylinder.
