I has the caddy lifters. My engine builder dropped one on accident and a big chunk broke off of it. I was hurtin' on money at the time so I just went with a set of LS7s. Not planning on spinning over 7k rpms.

Comp Rs have a really bad reputation on here. Morels are BANK. Not sure about lunati's.

Wouldnt your engine builder owe some lifters then instead of having you go buy a whole new set on your own?

You would think......but the guy that assembled my engine didn't charge me. I only paid for machine work. Still shoulda IMO, but this guy isn't really "like that".

Morel link bars here. With the lack of accessability in LS motors, the extra $ easily covers the $ in parts it would take to replace another set (lifters, head gaskets, etc), let alone time.

What are the advantages of the LS7 lifters over the stock LS1 lifters?

That makes sense.

I'll be using Caddy lifters and most likely an LS6 cam and 317s. I planned to also set them up with lightweight valves and have the lightest valvetrain possible...but that idea might be going out the window, dunno yet.

I initially had a set of new Comp R lifters and one collapsed during the initial break in of the motor. They where replaced with LS7 lifters. I am running a pretty aggressive cam and they are working perfectly.

I have about 5k on my comp r lifters. I have not had any problems yet. But i have to say after hearing all the horror stories i wont use them again. On my car everything is very bullet proof,it sucks that the only thing i worry about breaking are my lifters. Id go ls7 next time.
