Finally - 8's After a very frustrating year with tranny problems all year, crappy hot/humid weather, and very poorly prep'd track all year -- finally - finally. The conditions were a little better. "Only" 88 degrees today, track was 120 -- but after sunset, the track cooled a little. Finally got the SS to hook a little better. Broke out on my first round of elimination (yes I bracket race my turbo SS) -- ran a 9.10 on a 9.12 dial. Knew that things were ripe for 8's. Decided to run a test-n-tune run. My tuner was there.. bumped it up to 22lbs. Nice launch, smooth easy trip down the track. Maybe, maybe not. I've been there numerous other times. Got the slip: 60': 1.406 1/8: 5.80 at 123.8 1/4: 8.986 at 152.7 I didn't jump into the 8's but the time slip still started with an 8. That's all I cared about. No head lifting; no tranny or converter problems. I am very happy that the goal was finally reached. The video: https://video.fquick.com/thumbs/6958.jpgView Video on FQuick David |

Congrats. That is a big goal and it's great to see another 8 sec fbody. Any idea how much power the cars makes at that boost level? |
What Heads are you running??? |
Congrat's David!! That is awesome! Hope to be there myself in a few weeks! LOL. Congrat's again!:D |
Congratulations! It will be interesting to see what your car does on a well prepped track! Bob |

Upped the boost to 22lbs on the top end for the run. Most of the run was done at 19-20lbs. Best on the dyno was at 22lbs - 1003.5rwhp. If I remember right 20lbs was like 930rwhp. The track is usually so poorly prep'd I can only leave on 3-4lbs boost. Any more boost and will blow the tires off. I would give anything to get to a big/better track. Can't blame the track 100%. The weather up here has been crap. Today: 91degrees, very humid, 40-50 mph wind gust. Sickin'. I run AFR 225. Very please with them. No lifting (so far). Not sure how much more we can push the twin-67's. Thanks everyone for the kind words. Already got my title changed - by "me" :) David |
