It's All Gone!

It all happened last month...:bang:
I was driving down the road when all of a sudden my car lost oil pressure , started wheel hopping real bad, then it died.I got to the shoulder of the road to inspect the damage and I couldn't see any external damage, I called a buddy to bring the rollback and take me home. When I got the motor pulled and everything tore down I was heartbroken. The damage started with the impeller on my d1 the fins were all broke off or bent. The shrapnel from that proceeded to tear through my intake piping busting a hole in the intercooler. When the metal made its way in the motor it bent a valve , dented a piston, bent a pushrod, spun a bearing, and damaged the head before it exited.I have every thing repaired/replaced except the impeller of the d1.My question is who/where would be the best place get it fixed?

I would say Procharger.

Give Exotic Performance a call.....they might be able to help get the d-1sc rebuilt

I don't know if Bob repairs these or just sells them, but I can tell you that Procharger will not sell you ANY parts, Believe me, I have had this happen and you are better off buying a new head unit instead of getting that one rebuilt, It will literally cost the same and it WILL happen again with the rebuilt one, I was there.............

Thanks for the responses guys. I am looking into upgrading to a f-1 or a turbo since I will be paying out alot anyway...how many of ya'll have went to a turbo after havig a s/c or vice/versa and what are your thoughts?

Fast_94_Z Sep 3, 2008 09:26 PM

turbo is more expensive up frotn but is giong to be more efficient in the long run. be ready to drop a decent amount of money on headers pluming and what not but in the long run its going to be more worth it. i had a 383 lt1 just naturally aspirtated but it made good horsepower and everything. well the motor got tired after driving it a lot. so i pulled it out and i was going to rebuild it and put a big single turbo on it but the more i thought about it i was like why build a small block that is going to take a beating and is going to cost a lot to make big numbers. so i opted for a big block chevy with a 101mm turbo and its going to be extremely reliable and efficent for what i want to do with this car. consider what your future goals for your car is and go from there. shawn from virginia speed has been a huge help in getting the paper work together and when i get the car back from burkhart im shipping my motor out to him.
