On a very efficient setup with low back pressure; without the waste gate venting both banks of cylinders with direct flow, it WILL NOT regulate boost properly. So i would lean toward it being the gate more then anything. I have had the same issue with every Tial 60 i have installed.

When i had what Tial called their 15lb spring setup.(Big light blue spring along with small dark blue spring. I saw almost 30psi.
we have a winner!!!!!!! i put in the 5psi spring and im seeing what you said double. the gauge is reading about 8psi. so i guess the 2 psi drop from snail to guage. thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first chart is the OP, this last one is mine. Same type of location. And boost doesn't start till over 100 kPa, Its actually only about 6psi of boost but I'm at high elevation. Those are MAP sensor readings, not boost sensors...

it's a combination of location and pressure drop

sounds more like pressure drop through out the system, could be low backpressure as well. but i'm guessing you don't have a backpressure gauge to tell me what it is

yupp had to drop down in spring. its not so violent now lol. nice to finally see the guage stay put and not have to worry about overboosting. finally heard the open wastegate and thats loud also.

now i can finally start doing some logs... thanks everyone!!!!!!!! later on ill get boost controller working

no backpressure gauge. now where would that be measured? my setup is a mirror image of Kbracing's kits. just my wastegate is on driverside instead of passengerside. i have gate vented to atmoshpere. i have 4" exhaust that is roughly 5' long. no muffler and tubing is basically straight exits in front of right rear.

my charge side is PT88 that uses 3" to the 24x12x4 core then steps up to 4" and into the 90mm TB

also using a Tial 50mm bov

we don't make a 50mm, do you have some images of this?
where is the boost reference line taken from? (for the wastegate)
and where is the boost gauge source taken from?

sory i had typed wastegate insted of BOV.

my wastegate is off the snail. i had to my boost controller but bypassed it to rule out that issue

boost gauge is referenced off the back of intake on the little nipple that is usually for the heatercontrols

that is exactly how it should be set up...it's a wastegate position issue...you lowered the spring spressure which lowered the boost more, but it's not at spring pressure...and you're taking the boost reference for the gauge off the intake manifold and taking the boost signal for the wastegate off the turbo....unless you have a monster A/R which would reduce the backpressure you are getting a bit of overboost (the wastegate is working, but not at it's full potential) the wastegate is working, but it can't fully control it to where it should be....what A/R do you have?

as you go up in spring pressure the actual boost number would get higher and higher because of the increased velocity

Then how come my 7psi spring makes 7psi in my 38mm gate?

I guess they are rated wrong, our setup makes just under 11psi with a 10psi spring per the AMS1000.

Thats the best pic I have to show the location.

Intercooled, and manifold referenced. It works the same way in Phoenix too. I guess since it works like it's supposed to then it must just be wrong cuz you say so?

My tial gates have small red springs and they are rated for 4.4psi. Running on gate alone they my boost pressures are 4.5-4.6 all the time. Close enough if you ask me. I have many logs showing it.
