Dual Bosch 044's My 15 gallon fuel cell has twin -8an feeds with an -8an return. I'm planning to run twin 044 pumps and using a magnafuel twin -8an to -10an Y (already have one) to head up to the front of the car. How would you guys plumb the regulator in? I was looking at the pro star magnafuel with twin -8an's and a return, boost referenced (MP-9950-B). Not positive on which rails, and have 25' of -8an braided line and have some -10an but want to do it right without making a mess under the hood. I was planning to run the lines splitting off to another Y up front back to two -8an's, one to each rail then off the front of the rail, between the two connect the regulator with a return but the more I think about it, the more I'm not thrilled about having hose everywhere. Tell me how YOU would do it... Thanks fellas, Tony |
what are your HP goals? Why 2 pumps when one could handle it? Nate |
At a minimum, 800whp with the 408. I looked at the magnafuel 4301 was it? I'm concerned with this thing being a street/strip car and reliability. |
The MagnaFuel pumps are great street pumps and excellent reliability. |

i would put a 044 in beside a walbro 255 run the 255 all the time and cut in the 044 going into boost i would y them together in the tank or shortly after into a single -8 i would run that into the end of one aftermarket fuel rail and hop across at the front to the other rail, then out the back of that rail to a kirban race regulator, and from there either -6 back to the tank or utilize the factory lines heading that way if applicable. i would also go ahead with the black lightweight hose so you save the weight and don't want to do it over again in the future (like i do) |

ok same situation, i did this on a built mustang for a bud. external of each then. |
I'm running twin bosch 420l pumps externally. They Y into the feed line. Into one rail, out the back to the other rail, out that rail into the regulator, return out the bottom and back to the tank. |

I run two bosch 044s off a surge tank "Y" into a single -8 feed line ,large inline filter to one side of rails, -8 crossover on rails, out the rear of the second rail to regulator and factory feed line back to the tank (-6 would be big enough) |
Cool, sold. That works for me, I've got it now. =) Just wanted to make sure that that setup would work out okay. Can someone tell me why we don't run regulators near the tank? I've seen some setups like that, why would ours be different? I'm sure there's a reason, just thinking food for thought here. |
cuz the whole idea is to control fuel pressure on the injectors as accurately as possible.. ie close to the injectors as is reasonable. also boost/vac signal is from the engine want to keep that line short as you can as well |
Right on, makes sense. Thanks buddy, appreciate it. So twin 044's, now what controls when the second pump is enabled and is there a reason why I shouldn't run both at the same time? I've never actually run one of these, everything previous has been intank 255's. |
a boost controller such as an e-boost for example has a switched output you can use also aftermarket boxes like bs3 have triggers you can use most use a 'hobbs' switch that will trigger it physically at a certain boost level. i reccomend an led tied into the hot side of the pump to show you when the pump is powered |
The LED is a great idea. I've got a manual boost controller (turbosmart) with a rocket launcher switch, was planning to keep it that way... So, really bad to run both 044's all the time? |
some do.. i wouldnt. you figure you would be cycling 1400hp worth of fuel around while you make 100-200hp during normal driving. ..of course i also wouldnt be using two 044 pumps. waste of money for your application. if you planned on another 400hp down the road then go ahead with one walbro 255 and one 044. |
Well, the 408 is built for pretty ridiculous numbers, not sure if I'll ever push it that far, especially without thick deck heads (for now). The 255 can be mounted externally? Thanks again for all of your help. Edit: Yeah, you're talking about the walbro GSL392 255lph pump right? |
2 Attachment(s) David, i have a alum tank that can fit the stock basket. it is nice. and it has a sump. i am shooting for 1000 wheel horse with e85. so i got to figure around 1300 wheel on 91. ______________ question is. can i run two walbo 255 intank with external bosh 044. and be good. or try and fit two bosh 044 intank like down in the sump so they are covered in fuel. and one wlbor 25 in basket? well i guess what is your thought. ---picture of tank is below--- |
