Default Pro's & Con's of running a plastic intake over a carb/elbow style

I am building a LQ9/415 with WCCH l92 heads, MS4-111 cam and ls3 intake. I read that there are issues with the RPM range of the plastics and there are issues with power-loss with carb/elbow setups due to the elbow bend. I have been trying to find more info so I can try to outweigh the issues that each setup offers but I am not really finding what I want.

So...

Knowing that the RPM band is severely compromised with the plastics and the air flow on the carbs/elbows are being bottle-necked to the point of noticeable power-loss, which would be the better choice knowing this.

Do a search in the gen four engine section. The FAST 102 is making nice power when combined with a 102 T- body. Carb style intakes when used with a plate type t-body and a carb hat seem to make good top end power, but loose torque when compared to the space age polymer types

Thanks for the post... I have been trying to piece tgether all the info that Im finding but Im drowning in confusion lol. I just read Pat G's thread on the ported ls3 vs the fast 102 and it looks real good but damn they are so expensive.

I just want to know if the carb style intake (super victor) with the elbow will out perform the ls3 ported and unported.

As for the carb style with a plate tb, I dont want to go that route.

From all the posts that I have seen the elbow costs power. Plus you have to cut the cowl and use an aftermarket hood in most cases. The LS3 will make good power up to a point, it then stalls and won't make more power. The power does" t drop off a cliff. It reaches a peak and carries it out several 100 rpm.(table tops).I'll find out soon hope to fire mine up this week with the LS3 intake. Why no plate and hat type? They seem to make the most power.

I'm holding out for the super vic. The Fast 102 seems ok but the price is too high $$$. if the LS3 doesn't work then I'll do some reseach and go from there.

What was the outcome of this? I too, am building a 6.0 and am trying to weight the pros and cons of a carb style manifold and an LSXR 102, only difference is i'm lookin at an F-1R on top of that, any drastic changes under forced induction between an LSXR 102 and a Vicotr Jr. with an elbow?

Why couldn't you just flip the TB 90 degrees, make an adapter plate, and mount it on top of the carb style intake?
