Magnafuel/aeromotive 13101..what would cause VERY slow pressure rise?
I have a magnafuel external pump going to an aeromotive 13101(a1000) regulator. The pump comes on fine put the fuel pressure takes almost 30 seconds before its up to 58psi and as soon as I turn off the pump it drops almost immediately back down to 20.Its a top feed fuel system going from the top of the tank to the pump to the rails to the FPR back to the tank. Once its at 58 it seems to stay there. Any ideas? I have a 100 mic. pre filter and a 40mic post filter.

Your trying to pull fuel up out the top of the tank its going to take some time. add a check valve after the pump so the fuel cant flow back to the tank will help but that pump really needs to pull from a sump out the bottom with a very large volume hose (we use -12) feeding it so its always submerged and can not suck the line dry and cavitate.

Well I think the problem might be related to the gauge. I took the gauge right off the FPR and hooked it up to an air compressor and put 80psi at it and it rose up slowly like it does with the FPR. I then used a digital gauge on the fpr and I turned the pump on and within 2 seconds it was at 58psi..so Im guessing a bad gauge. Also, maybe related to having no check valve...the second id turn the pump off the pressure would go back to 0...normal?
