What size is my fuel tank?
Okay, I accepted that my late '96 had a 15.5 gallon metal tank. Never pumped more than 15.3 into it. Couldn't...
I've heard that newer cars came with plastic 16 gallon tanks. What years had that? Were there any metal 16 gallon tanks in these cars?
Anyway, I now have a '97 z28. and filling up the gas the other day pumped 16.3 gallons of gas. WTF? Nothign was leaking on the ground so, it went SOMEWHERE... I know the fuel pump has been messed with becuase the access spot in the back has been cut. I haven't checked yet to see what pump is in it but, just wondering how the hell I pumped 16.3g of gas in.
Any ideas?

Hate to argue but, came across some info and if this is accurate, I think I solved/answered my own question of how I am able to pump 16.3g. Apparently prevoius owner must have changed tanks. Here's what I'm finding on car specifications :
93-98's have 59 liter (15.586 gal) tank stock.
99-02's have 64 liter (16.907 gal) tank stock.
I've never seen one of the newer cars tanks personally but, somewhere I swear I heard they were a plastic or composite material.. maybe just imagining that. I am however getting this size info straight from motortrends site. Here are the links to some of the years:
1995
1996
1997
1998
1999
2000
2001
2002
this sound right to you folks?
