Default New Aeromotive 340 in tank pump (old thread locked..) lets see your setups.

I will snap a picture of my bucket modification later. I wanted to compare to other people and make sure I am following the correct procedure.

Right now I am getting approx 80psi at the rail using the Aeromotive 340 and Racetronix upgraded wiring harness.

Any other install stories, successes? The previous thread had a lot of information in it that is no accessible as an ongoing discussion of this pump.

why are you getting 80psi at the rail? i hope thats not what you set you base fuel pressure at. do you have a return style fuel setup ?

Correction, my idle fuel psi is about 70. I have not yet adjusted the stock fpr. I have also only driven about a mile on the new pump, because I wanted to make sure I had it set up correctly.

Your pressure is high because the pump is overloading the regulator. Readjusting it will only cause the pressure to drop below 58 under load.

You either need to design a proper regulator system or live with high idle pressure.

^^^ I didn't know this was possible. At what point does this occur? In other words how much pump is too much?

Would a vette filter solve this issue?

I read there is a way to adjust the stock intank regulator with a torx bit, can anyone confirm/tell me how to do this?

if not, lonnie, what can i use as the easiest solution to my high fp issue?

Adjusting your idle presure down to 58 will only cause the pressure to drop too low under load, as I previously stated.

You need a higher flowing regulator to properly control the pressure.

I have a couple of friends running the 340 and using the vette return filter without issue's. So I was wondering if that would be a simple fix for you.

Thanks, I'll start doing some research on how to plumb that correct. Anybody have any pointers?

Mine has been in maybe a month and I'm happy. Mine is in a S/C'ed 98 GMC Jimmy though. The pump housings in the 99-02 f-body and my Jimmy are pretty similar. I did my install almost exactly like the "walbro install sticky" in this forum. https://ls1tech.com/forums/fueling-i...tion-here.html Plus I used a racetronix Fuel Pump Wiring Kit MP150/280 for the 99-02 f-body. Work great!

I have plenty of pics and a write up if anyone is interested.

To clarify, why is the Vette regulator/filter combo able to maintain 58 psi while the stock Fbody one jumps to 70~ psi with the stock intank regulator and this 340 pump?

Is the Vette regulator beefier to that psi range? Is it adjustable?

I'm trying to figure this out and also researching how exactly to plumb the thing. I am getting A LOT of mixed answers while searching threads for it.

also, I'd like to know if anyone has input whether it would be preferable to use a 2000+ corvette filter/regulator combo OR use the 97-98 corvette fuel rail with the regulator built into the rail?

Nobody knows?

Does anyone know if the Aeromotive 340LPH pump has an internal check valve?

The 340 pump has a check valve. My fuel pressure seems to hold forever with the key off. That wasn't the case with the walbro I had. Fp bleed off with it and I had hard starts after being parked for a few hours. I suspect my walbro I bought from ebay wasn't authentic or it was just defective.

My truck has a mercruser marine intake because THE STOCK VORTEC (sorry...hit the caps..)fuel system is garbage and not upgradeable. The mercruser intake is true MPI but it isn't anything special performance wise. So the FPR is basically your everyday stock FPR. So far I'm having no problems with it not being able to hold up to the pressure of the 340. I would think that unless a stock FPR was old and about to fail anyway, it would work fine.

Is anyone running this pump for a heads/cam/intake set-up?
