Default Fuel pump placement

How far away from the tank can you place the pump from the tank? I was trying to keep it below the sump, but I'm having trouble finding a mounting location.

I made a bracket for it to be mounted in the stock fuel filter location. The problem is that it's far from the tank and there would be line that gets routed up around the axle.

I'm open to ideas.

I always run external pumps as close to the sump as possible. You certainly don't want the pump to have to pull the fuel out of the tank or over the axle. Have you considered mounting it to the trunk well? Or making a bracket and attaching it to the rear frame?

Ya as close as possible and not routed up that high. There is room beside the tank on the inner fender/frame rail. Had seen brackets off the cross brace above the panhard bar too.

Thanks for the replies

I'll have to put the pre filter on one side and the pump on the other. I've got my battery and battery box in the center. Then I'll put the post pump filter probably in the stock location.
