Easy fix for 98-02 f-body fuel regulator housing issue. (READ THIS)
 

So my 98 ss looses power and will hardly accelerate at WOT. Hook a fuel pressure gauge up and there is the problem only 40psi at idle. (Saposed to be 60).
So I pulled the fuel pump assembly and find the o-ring has popped out on the FPR (fuel pressure regulator). I take it apart and the housing the FPR sits inside is now oval. This is because it is made of plastic and the metal peice that clamps the FPR to the housing clamps on only 2 sides causing the plastic to bend out of round over time. See pic below.

Now when I put the metal clamp on 90*. The plastic that was oval turns back to a circle. So this is the fix, but the plastic housing no longer clamps down with the spring turned so you need to put a clamp around the FPR and housing to keep it together strong. I also Put some "right stuff" around the o-ring surface to insure a great seal. Here is the pic with the FPR fixed.

You can see now the surfaces are flush and it seals good.

So reattached the FPR to the fuel sending unit and put it back in the tank. Started up and sure enough back to 60psi at Idle!
