Generally pumps don't like a restriction on the intake side but it's usually not an issue on the output side, It could be a heat issue where they want as much fuel flowing thru the pump to help keep it cool.

I've ran the Holley 12-1800 for one season, 8,000 plus street miles.

E85 = no problem
93 pump gas = Not good.

On pump gas it really does not tolerate heat well, it's left me on the side of the road waiting for it to cool a couple of times.

Be sure to mount it "flat", not on the side of a frame rail where the pumps are stacked vertically. At the Holley EFI school they discussed this pump, known failures, and mounting it flat was a big key to longevity.

Wow thanks for the reply I think I'll send it back for one reason it's way more than I need and I don't want to have to change all my fuel lines. You've been very helpful!

I'm probably going to redo part of the fuel system in my truck, but keep the 12-1800.

I want to run an in tank 255 for normal cruising, then have the EFI system trigger the 12-800 under load.

I have the 12-1800 hundred coming on only in boost. 1 pump around 4 lbs and the other around 10. Running on pump gas and no issues at all. I also have a -8 coming out of it.

Coming on only under boost, should last forever. I only have heat issues with pump gas during long drives and heat soak.
