Please Help I'm lost
 

So I need help My rocker arms went bad and I need new ones and I am unsure if the previous owner had 1.7 or 1.8 ratio rocker arms in it, the mods are as follows. I just don't want to get the wrong ratio and mess up my engine, I am new to ls engines and any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I have heard that the 1.8 ratio doesn't run very well on some setups and the 1.7 is insufficient on others, I am just stuck scratching my head right now..

The "-COMP CAMS Trunion Upgraded Rockers" line item is a modified OEM rocker arm, and the modification doesn't change the ratio. The OEM ratio is 1.7, but I'm curious what type of damage you incurred on the rockers.

Yep. What said. 1.7 ratio. I'm also curious as to what "went bad" with your rockers. Especially since you haven't mentioned any more damage, aside from the rockers, that occurred...

Rocker arms don't normally go bad unless there is something else wrong, especially ones with the upgraded trunion bearings. It is likely that there is something else not correct in your valve train, the engine has been over speed, the valve springs are wore out, is there a PTV issue, bent pushrods? You may have a bent valve? I wouldn't ever run a 1.8:1 ratio, there is no need. I have advanced induction modified heads, like in your spec, and I know he mills them for higher compression and cuts into the safety margin on PTV, to achieve more HP. Going to 1.8 ratio will reduce your PTV clearance even further, asking for trouble.

It looks like you have a little issue to sort out, but over all that is a nice list of components laid out. Someone spent a considerable amount of money setting that up, and it looks like they went with very good stuff. Since you already have ARP head bolts, and they can be reused, I probably pull one of the heads to check things out, it would only cost you 1 MLS head gasket they are sold individually about $25, if you can turn the wrenches yourself.

If you need rocker arms I'd get a set from a JY, or a used set off the classifieds, flea bay or such. Can often be had for about $30 plus shipping. Ones from a 5.3, 4.8, 5.7 or 6.0 will work. They are really common, In fact I think I've tossed out a few sets, just because I've bought motors, and tore them down for the head castings and bottom ends, and had a few extra sets kicking around. Since they rarely fail, they are common and cheap. Buy the Comp trunion upgrade kit, and put it in yourself, it can be done with a small bench vise and a couple sockets.

I think it is just the comp trunnion kit that was installed, I found a needle bearing on my oil drain plug, going to get another trunnion kit and replace that and see if that fixes things, thanks for the replies everyone!

The needle bearing you found was probably from before the trunion kit was installed. The comp kit has caged bearings, the stock doesn't it could have been kicking around in your engine for a while, and finally worked its way to the bottom of the pan. If all you found was a needle bearing in your oil pan, and the trunion upgrade has been done your probably have nothing to worry about.
