Default What gauge wire for fuel pump? New wiring.

Title states it but for more details:

Two LSx swaps are being wired. New fresh wiring. Both are going into S10 Blazer style rig(Toyota FJ55) and wiring run will be 15 foot for both. Both are daily driver and offroad machines. Not worried about dyno numbers or racing.

First is stockish 2004 LQ4(6.0L) with a 99 Camaro fuel pump assembly and pump in a custom tank. It was previously running with 14 gauge wiring from a stock GM fuel pump relay with no apparent problems(25k miles of running).

Second is a turbo 5.3L that will use a 99 Camaro fuel pump assembly with unknown fuel pump(s) driving E85 primary and 87 octane in a pinch. No real power goals other than see where I can get to about 500hp then dial the tune back to be safe. Initial research is showing two Walbro 255 pumps.

For relays, I've got 35 amp relays available. I've got a pile of "correct" color 14 gauge wire.

Is the 14 gauge wire good for the Walbro 255 pumps if I do two runs from two 35 amp relays? Or should I purchase a bigger gauge, what gauge?

Run a single 340 lph in tank pump for 500 HP. Same size as a single 255.

Interesting. Thank you for the input on the pump.

For the 340 pump, is it worth updating my wiring from 14 gauge? If yes, what to?

Check the amperage draw VS the pump pressures for your pumps operating range. Then use a standard wiring gauge vs length vs amps chart to determine the proper wire to use.

Something like this...

Default Wire Current Rating

Hi, yes Length does effect the current rating of the wire.

Your choice of "14" is perfect and in your hand.

The current draw for each pump is 8-10 Amps.

my 450 draws like 14 amps at 70psi. it's currently wired with 10awg

when I add a second pump I'm switching to the DC solid state relays and 8 or 6awg royal excelene welding cable

I only overkill one thing on cars, fuel system wiring.
