36# injectors okay with E85? i have a 99 T/A it’s got heads, cam, intake, and 36# Bosch injectors. Car makes around 420 to the wheels the heads are TAP stage 2.5 5.3 heads so they bumped up compression a bit. I was wondering if my 36# injectors will be good enough for a E85 swap? I’m planning on getting a Walbro 450 fuel pump then throw it in then go get tuned for E85. Just wanted to know if those injectors will be fine |
Not even close, I run 83lb injectors at 53psi to supply enough fuel for 550-600hp at the crank and my other setup uses 16 66lb injectors to supply 900hp at the crank. Using an online calculator for 420hp NA on E85 you would need over 50lb injectors. The LSA injectors are 52lb but I would want a little bigger to be on the safe side. |

I make around 450 rwhp and my 42's were at 90% when I tried E85. No way would 36's make it for you |

What's the difference between a high performance injector and a "normal" one? Besides flow ratings... |
Alright, because a higher flow rating does not a high performance injector make. What would be high performance on a 5.0L engine would be a standard injector on a 6.0L |
OK, so my comparison was a bit off. My point is that all injectors are sized by flow, and there is no "line" separating standard from high performance. An engine with a certain size injector is modified, needing a larger injector. The new size injector is no more a high performance injector than the old size, just larger. Let's knock off the sales talk. |
You need LARGER injectors. These injectors could well be NORMAL sized for a larger engine. They don't perform any better than smaller injectors, they just inject more fuel. None of the other injector vendors around here call their injectors "high performance", because it depends on the size engine they are on. If a customer feels better thinking he's putting "high performance" injectors on his engine, good for him. There are no "standard" or "high performance" injectors. There ARE the "right injectors for the application". I've hung around this forum for a few years. Injectors are injectors, whether they are high or low quality or different flow ratings. You guys are new here, evidenced by your blanketing the injection threads with posts promoting your products. So just because an injector is bigger, doesn't make it high performance. Just a different size.... |
