Fuel pump recommendations
 

With my mods, so far the stock pump has been ok but I'm sure when I spray, I'm gonna need a better setup so I don't lean out but I was wondering if I can get away with a Walbro 255lph or will I need something bigger? Also what about a "hot wire" kit? I'm on a very tight budget right now so cost is definitely a consideration. TIA

I just ordered an RFPK - 001 kit from racetronix to go with my fast 102 / 102 setup with a Martin specced cam. From what I understand the hot wire kit is to provide more power to the larger pump than the old wiring can handle

I'm at about 600 rwhp on a 150 shot With the 255 pump and hotwire kit. Seems to hold just fine, although I'm sure I'm right near the edge

I'd love a Racetronix p&p setup but that's more than I can afford now so maybe just go with a 255 now and hope for the best. Is a hot wire kit needed for a 255 pump?

At 426 hp the 255 pump alone will be fine. The hotwire kit is cheap though

The 255 will be good even with spray? If so that's awesome and the news I wanted to hear.

How big of a shot?

150 tops. I'd be too nervous to go any higher, even with a better pump.

On a 150 I'd say not a good idea. That's what I'm doing but with the 255 pump and hotwire kit

Damn, burst my happy bubble.lol What would you suggest then? I guess since race season is almost over I can just save for a better setup for next year.

So a Walbro 255 with a hot wire kit will work then. That would be fine.

It definitely should. I probably make a little more power than you and I'm fine. Assuming you'll run 93 octane of course

That'll be cool then, thanks for the help with this. 1 more question, My ORY only has a 2.5" outlet where it meets the rest of my setup which is 3" I never thought about this before since I wasn't planning on modding but I'm sure now it's gotta be a bottleneck. How much do you think I'd gain by either having the 2.5" section cutout and welded or a true dual setup? Thanks again for your help.

With your setup you probably would gain a few hp. I'll give you a similar scenario with my car. My Pacesetter ORY was built with a horrible merge. Had a 3" in 3.5" out Flowmaster merge put in and it definitely made a nice little difference. My buddy's 03 Cobra would pull me by a car or so everytime before, and after it was a drivers race. So that told me there was definitely a bottleneck

Dano, not sure you want to go this far, but you might want to get a Flowmaster merge with inlets the same size as the 2 incoming legs of the ORY, then a 3": outlet. This will de-congest that part of the exhaust, plus make a better merge of the 2 incoming pipes. It would have to gain power...

Thanks, guess I will be doing something about this for sure then. Another member on here has a Speed Engineering true dual setup he's gonna sell me when I get the money together so it's gonna be that or get this y fixed.

That true dual setup will probably be worth a few more ponies but not much over a proper y-pipe.

The price differences are so small between a 255, 340, 450 just get something with some headroom for the future. Hot wire kit is a must.
