Default Can an injector be too big for a setup.......

Okay here's the deal for me. A lot of people recommended the Mototron 60# for my setup, and I was curious if you could ever have too much injector. I've read some posts where guys go down in size because their injectors were too big..

How do you know if the injectors are too big, or if they can even be too big.

Thanx

they can be, but a good tuner can make a large injector work good at low pulse widths. the 60's are a great injector, and have good control down low.

what is your setup? based on your sig, stock injectors are fine.

Well this is the setup I'm going with

I currently have:
MMS Stage II heads 2.02/1.57 w/ low compression upgrade (71cc chambers)
CAM 218/218 .561/.561 114

Going FI and will be running 8#'s
-ATI D1SC (SC unit only)
-Custom ground cam 224/232 .575/.575 113 +2 (was reccomended)
-Dual intake Walbro GSS340's
-Mototron 60# Injectors
-8 rib Pulley/tensioner setup.
-LS1 Edit

Couple people have stated I'll be close to 600rwhp (corrected).

So you think the 60# would be good for this arangement?

60's are large... Just squeeze what you can out of your stock fuel system and then upgrade... you dont want to buy parts twice... I think you might have tunability issues if you ran 60's right off. Wait and just do it all at once.

You can do some simple math to determine what you will need for injectors...
FWHP x BSFC
____________ = Inj size in #/hr
# injs x Duty cycle

600 rwhp should be something near 675 FWHP
BSFC for a blown engine is approx .6# fuel/ per HP/ per hour.
Duty cycle is usually 85%.

675 x .6 =405
____________ = 59.55 PPH injectors
8 x .85 = 6.8

You won't have any problems with those injectors size wise at all. I had 57#(at 3bar) injectors on my basically stock 5.3L in anticipation of more horsepower and they ran fine. I only hit about 35% duty cycle at WOT with them so you can tell they were just a tad big for that setup. I did take them out eventually only because my plans for more horsepower fell through. I didn't have to though, they ran fine.
