Default 408+GT80 truck. What fuel system for 700rwhp?

Ok guys, I need advise on a fuel system for my truck. I have been looking at several different setups and none of them are cheap, lol. I am definately getting a Vic Jr with rails and elbow, that's a given. Here's where i'm torn:

Do I need 75lb low imp injectors with converter or will Motron 60's be ok?

Do I need to use an external pump and new fuel lines or can I use a dual intank Racetronix setup?

Do I need a new fuel cell style tank?

The full blown setup with new tank, pumps, filters, regulator, lines, intake, 75lb inj, etc, etc, etc is almost $4000.

This will totally kill my budget and potentially kill the entire build. HELP!!!!

Give Lonnie a call and he can help you with your fuel system and choice of injectors:

http://www.lonniesperformance.com/

Lonnie assembles DP systems using Racetronix components. DP systems can support a lot of HP and are FULLY PnP, quiet and reliable.

Easiest way is fuel cell and A-1000 elimnator pump ,aeromotive fuel pump controler with motron 60lbers.

We just built a 408 T76 truck with that setup and through a huge converter a 4l80e trans and 20 inch wheels. On pump gas and 16 psi it made 667 RWHP and 725 RWTQ.

the problem is, a custom fuel cell is $700. Speed-Eng sells a "1000hp fuel system" for these trucks and uses the A1000 but i've heard it's LOUD. That kit is $950 and comes with feed and return lines, pump, filter, regulator and all fittings. It uses a metal tube that feeds into the stock fuel sending unit thru the top of the tank. Interesting. They say they had it on truck making over 700 at the wheels with no problem.

You'll hear an A1000 in the cab of the truck considering it will most likely be on the frame rail under the cab.........RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Go with the dual PnP setup. I'm pretty sure Parish was still running that exact setup with his low 10 sec setup.

ok, digging up old theads because i just finally got the damn truck back. Anyway, i went with the speed-eng setup. Not overly happy with it. The aeromotive pump is LOUD as i suspected. very, very, loud.

Anyway, i'll deal with it. The problem now is that I can't to wot with less than 1/4 tank of gas despite what Speed-eng told me when I ordered the kit. I should know by now not to trust anyone who is trying to sell me something. Silly me. So now I think i DO want a custom fuel cell.

Any ideas? I want it to be stock size, stock location, and i want my fuel gauge to work like stock.

Man Lonnie does a nice dual Walbro setup for them that functions like stock and can feed about 900rwhp. I sell them with my fuel systems.

My thing is, I want to have a tank that I can run down to 1/8th tank or lower without having to worry about blowing **** up AND I want to my fuel gauge to work.

I'd definately be willing to pay for a custom fuel cell if that was the answer. I'll live with the LOUD aeromotive pump. Until it dies of course, lol.

A seperate holding tank would of worked great but it would be expensive now since the stock pump is destroyed(gone) with the bucket stuff.
I like the idea of the dual pumps in the tank. That would be quiet but the only issue would be gas starvation with under 1/4 a tank when the truck launches in 4wd at the track.

my thoughts exactly. So, here's what i'm thinking: do nothing for now, live with the noise, live with the fact that i can't run hard with less than 1/4 tank. Then sometime this summer, have Nate or whoever make me a tank that will mount in the stock location, keep the aeromotive till it burns out. Then at that point, change over to the dual walbro pumps like on purevl's car.

DanaliHD,

I've got the answer to both of you questions. You can get a custom fuel tank that will keep your fuel gauge accurate and make your A1000 quiet as a mouse. Contact these guys: http://www.rickshotrodshop.com/ . I have one of their stealth series tank in my car and love it! Well worth the money.
