okay the sun will rise tommarrow:engarde:. sorry had to say that thanks for responding, but anyways the filler neck is essentially mounted from what i can see, directly to the fuel tank.

My question is does the filler neck come out someway i don't see?
Is there a trick to drop the tank?

TINKRD 07-23-2008 09:51 PM

disconnect the fittings on top the tank. remove the two bolts from the straps and it will drop down. the lower you can get the rear to hang the easier as well

alright the filler neck is still in the way I think I will need another person to help guide and jack in order to get this tank out, man has it been hard..

dnm12 07-25-2008 12:31 PM

alright still no luck, there must be some trick, which is what I want to know...how to you get the 98 fuel tank out?

TINKRD 07-25-2008 03:31 PM

have you dropped the rearend as much as possible?

ie. disconnect panhard bar and shocks? you could even disconnect the LCA's. at this point the only thing holding the rear to the car would be brake lines.

you want the rear as low as possible.

telling you, i had no rear in the car and it just fell right out after i disconnected the two straps on the tank.

I am thinking you might be right. I am not on a lift and I have not removed the rear end yet but I might have too! It's very odd that our filler neck is non removable. I feel If I could make that part some how removable I would be able to remove the tank myself. Thanks for the responses though!!!!

You could easily make it removable once you get it out. Be easier the next time around.

I ended up just pulling the tank down with the filler neck stuck in there and pulled the pump out with the tank hanging there lol. but now I bent the neck and it won't sit right with the fuel fill door.

Yeah thats basically what i don't want to do, meaning bend the filler neck. When I get the tank out I am thinking of modifying the filler neck to somehow be removable

unhook the shocks from the rear, take the rear wheels off, drop the rear to the ground. literally.

twist it and pull it toward the passger rear wheel well

continue to raise the rest of the car until you are sucessfull.
