Walbro 255's going out

I know of about 6 walbro pumps that have went out in the last 6 weeks or so. All the pumps were bought brand new and installed with new fuel filters. They were even installed by differnt shops and I installed some. The last pump lasted 30 miles and the best one lasted maybe 500 miles or so. Is anyone else seeing this happen. All of them are doing the same thing, they just start losing fuel pressure. The pumps have been on cars from 98-02 cars.

Did you drill holes in the bucket? and use the prefilter on it? What kind of feed line did you use? The stock feed line to the pum sometimes will shrink under pressure. And the worm clamp comes loose sometimes. I had a single pump and the ass that installed it dident drill my bucket and wired t funny I got lucky befor it went out and went duals. Ålso the pump has to sit higher in the bucket, the pre filter should not sit on the bottom of the bucket.

I've had a few fail over the years, and they were both on cars running the factory 12V+ supply wire. I've never had a problem with a Walbro when supplying it with 30 amps, a 10-12au wire off the fuse block.

i talked to guy at lonnies performance and he had do not drill the bucket. it lets the fuel run out unless u keep above a half of tank of gas. and when it does that it let the pump overheat which makes since. ive had 2 go out in the last month and he said buy the racetronix which has the fitting for the venturi tube and hook it back up with a hot wire kit and should solve the problem.

I have had several go out on me over the years. The last one was about a year ago. I now have a Denso unit from a turbo supra (this is in my 98 Talon). It is substantially bigger in diameter and a little longer but it's possible to cram in there.

I don't think F-bodies can use this though, especially with the venturi feed. It would be nice though, since it flows 260LPH :)

I'm in the middle of an LS1 swap into my 89 Formula and I would rather not use a Walbro.

I just put one in my TA yesterday and Im hoping it does ok. Im replacing another Walbro that I had in it and it lasted about 8k miles. I drilled a few holes in it and placed the pick up under the bucket so that the filter is on the very bottom of the bucket.
