Yea i went from 2:73 to 3:73 in my A4...Let me tell you, its a blast out of the whole.. But your gonna have to learn to drive it all over agian.. Remember punching the 2:73 at about 20-30 and it would blast off.. well if you do that now its prob gonna spin.. but there are no more dead spots like with the 2:73...just make sure whoever sets it up does it right or prepare to do it agian, like i have to right now...

IMO the stock C5Z gearing is perfect for the car. It'll clear 60 in 2nd and 100 in 3rd and hit 146 in 4th.
You allready have the mn12 trans which is comparable to putting 3.90s in a stock mn6 C5.
Gears in a Z06 = spin everywhere. Unless you're drag racing it w/ stickey tires exclusively you'll regret gearing the car.

Well my A4 '95 Z28 was bone stock except for the 3.73s that the previous owner put in. Guess they got tired of the gear whine because nothing else was modded. it had a rebuilt tranny, but they didn't put a stall in it(left at 1400 rpm and still spun to a 2.2 60'). It ran a best of 14.98@93 mph... now now before you say holy , I'm at 5200 ft. Not sure on desity altitude. I can tell you however that it was strong in the 1/8th: 9.62 @ 8x mph and right after the 1/8th the car would shift into 3rd.
With the NHRA correction factor of .9354 and 1.0689 for 5200' it is about an 1/8th of 8.99 @ 88.7 and 1/4 of 14.01 @ 99.4. I think that's pretty good for an all stock LT1.
So I'd definitely go for it. Much more snap on the street and still got me 19mpgs city (get to overdrive faster) and 24mpgs on the 1 highway trip i took with it before I sold it.
Sorry for the long post, but that's first hand experience of basically exactly what you're doing lol. Justin

Just put 3.73's in my car. I love em especially coming up from 2.73's.
You will deff have to relearn how to drive it because all the spots you could punch it down low with the 2.73's seem to spin the tires and say if your at 30 mph in first and you punch you dont just spin alittle it blows the tires off on mine. You may have to get some decent tires to fix that say dr's...or stickys for the track. I havent taken mine to the track yet but im almost certain all its gonna do is spin...I think a gear change is probably the best thing you could do to an otherwise stock car. The higher rpm takes a bit to get used to if you have exhaust but its not to bad.
