Getting one of these housings in the car
Any benefit in price of just buying a housing like this and putting in the pieces? Would need center section, gears, brakes and what would be needed to piece the 4 channel setup on it?

I think the best reason to buy from a sponsor is support. If you buy a rear in parts from here and there, you don't have one single place to go when you have a question or a problem. From what I've read, the sponsors here will take good care of you for the few extra bucks.
Like you, I looked into the piece-together method to save money. I even went as far as looking into junkyard parts. But I came to the conclusion that it's worth the extra coin to be able to pick up the phone and get an answer, a shim, a few install tips, etc.

I agree with Dave.....piecing it together doesn't always save you money in the end and the vendors/sponsors have the means to help you out with any issues that may arise.
