Default 3rd gen rear in a 4th gen?

after searching i found that its 2" narrower. can i get away with a 1" wheel spacer? will my backing plate fit on the 3rd gen rear? the reason i ask is i found a 9" for cheap.

Its more grief than its worth IMO. Sure it will bolt in to the suspension butif your making enough power to break a stock 10 bolt? Then you sure dont want spacers on the rear wheels... In fact I'd bet most track techs would catch it and not let you run

I think what he's saying is that he found a 9'' for a third gen for cheap.... I don't see why not, the rears are interchangable. people put 4th gen wheels on third gens, should be fine.

yeah, it fits. Just dont run 1" spacers. Unless you like tightening your wheels every 500 miles. Get new wheels, custom offset. 82-92 rear, 93-02 front.
