02 ss auburn ????'s PLEASE HELP!!

Default 02 ss auburn ????'s PLEASE HELP!!

ok this is my first time workin on a rear end i have a 2002 slp ss camaro i need to replace the pinion bearing i tore into it tonight its got richmond 4:10 gears with (i was told it looks like) a auburn 3 channel im stuck i cant figure out how to get the axles out... i have the bolt out that keeps the keeper pin in it slides out 3/4s the way then hits the ring gear so it wont slide all the way out WTF!!!! i cant figure it out PLEASE HELP!!!!

That sucks if they hammered it in.
There might be a groove or flat on the pin that needs to be aligned with the ring gear teeth.
I put together a 8.8 with 4.56's once and just ground a flat on one side of the pin to get it to clear the gear. Once it was in it needed to be rotated so the flat was not on a thrust side and the bolt hole lined up.

So basically look for a groove, a flat either lengthwise or accross. If you don't find anything on the pin try the other side of the ring gear, sometimes they grind the gear.

If you find nothing use a slide hammer to pull it out, if you hammer it in it'll hit the pinion, won't be able to turn it, and be literally stuck in there.

Or grind a spot in the ring gear, sounds bad but about your only other option is to cut the cross pin out in sections.

its a auburn posi its a little different from those pics instead of the round pin there is a big open window in the carrier and a square block slider peace thats the best i can describe it its different from that tho

Thats a Torsen, it should say torsen on it.

YES!! thats it 9000th01ss those pics are exactly what it is how in the hell do i get that center pin or whatever you would call it out? i have a 4:10 gear in it and it hits the ring gear before it comes all the way out
