Strange 12 bolt w/ 4.10 gears question
I'm pretty close to getting a Strange 12 bolt w/ 4.10 gears. I have some questions first for guys that have this rear end based on their experience.
1. Does this act like the stock 10 bolt unit in regards to ABS and TCS functions with the car? Of course, I'll be adding the correct backing plates and ect..
2. How does the Strange 12 bolt w/ 4.10 gears sound as opposed to the 10 bolt w/ 3.42 gears? My stock 10 bolt is pretty quiet as it only has 32,000 miles on it and has never had slicks or any hard launches.
3. Have you had to adjust the gears at all to quiet them down after installation and break in?
4. Does the Strange 12 bolt / 4.10 gears use Motive gears?
My car is a street car, whining gears are not fun for me, nor what I want. If the Strange rear can act "close to stock" it will be a good match for my car.
Thanks.

My Strange 12-bolt with 4.11s is noisy as all hell. I'm not sure what brand of gears they use, but they were set up poorly by Strange. I'll be fixing it myself this spring/summer to see if I can get it to be quiet.
Kinda hit and miss with the aftermarket on this one - don't expect it to be stock quiet, at least not straight from them. If I can even reduce the noise by half, I'd be happy.

Ditto, on what he said. Noisy as hell, but I have no other complaints.
I only have ABS on mine, and it works the same as stock. No traction control on mine, but it should work just like factory.
I'm going to be putting Mikronited 3.73's in mine and hopefully that will quiet it down a bit. Half the noise would be nice!

I drove my 12 bolt with 4.11s for about 10k miles. It only had a small hum around 65 mph right from strange.
After some abuse and hard launches it started having a whine at almost any speed, but not bad....turn the stereo up to normal level and you cant even really hear it.
my abs and tcs functioned like stock.
If you wanna quiet it down get a set of american gears 4.11s and have a professional put them in.
