3 channel has 1 plug in sensor on top of the housing. 4 channel has 1 plug in sensor at the end of each axle and not on the housing.

If i had a four channel rear end and my car has abs. would that make the abs not work? Or is that the wheel speed sensor or the abs computer? I had a shop look at it and they said i had a 3 channel rear end and i need a four. but my car doesn't have a asr switch in it.

It wouldn't work if the wrong diff was in the car. You should be able to tell if there is a seperate brake line for each rear brake if it is 4 channel and only a single line on the 3 channel setup.

Question

What are you trying to accomplish? If your car came with 4 channel ABS/TCS, you should have a switch by the cigararette ligher to turn ACS off and on and you will have this big ugly black box on the passenger fender well like in the pic I attached. If you have neither, just adding a rearend setup for 4 channel won't work. It's a lot easier to change a 4 channel setup into a 3 channel setup rather than the other way around.

My abs doesn't work. So i brought it to a shop to look at it and they said that i had the wrong rear end in the car. They said that it had a 3 channel in it and it needed a 4. But that didn't sound right becaues like you said i don't have the acs on off switch. I just wanted to check with some other people before i take their work for it and switch the rear end.
