LT1 vs LS1 10 bolt axle shafts
Ok guys i have a quick question. I recently put a set of axles out of 10bolt from a 98 Z28 into my 95 Formula because they have 1/2"x3" wheels studs. Now the problem is that when i torque the wheel down the brake rotor hits on the brake caliper. Is this happening because of the axle shafts being diff lenghts or is it a brake issue. Im stumped with this one. I have tried switching the left and right side axle shafts, brake rotors and pads and still nothing. Has anyone had this problem before? Any help would be awesome
thanks

Thats what I thought to. I dont know how it could be a brake problem tho unless the rear i took the axles out of was narrowed or something...or it could be a 3rdgen axle. I know those are shorter.

Since you have access to a LS-1 rear, maybe you have access to the brakes too? If so, I'd throw 'em on there along with the axleshafts.
If the axleshafts are shorter as posted above, but the tubes are the same width on your 95 as the 98, then it would make sense that installing the LS-1 brakes would fix the problem...
Unless they are 3rd Gen shafts like you said.
For what its worth.

send a PM to HILTON. I was over at his house the other day and saw a complete set of LS brakes and brackets that i remembered cleaning up for him. they look brand new and i believe his intentions were to sell them.
