Default Moser 9in out of a third gen

Im thinking about puting gears in my firehawk, and then I thought hey I have the Moser 9in out of my 87 GTA Trans Am. Is there any problems with doing this, is the 3rd gen rear wider? Should I have it narrowed or what? Or just get a Moser 12 bolt? Im just afraid my stock rear isnt going to hold up much longer cus I bought the car to drive not baby..

the 3rd gen rear is actually shorter by 1 1/2 or 2" i cant remeber exactly. So no need to get it narrowed. The only problem i can see happening is the offset of your stock wheels being wrong. All in all the 9in will always be stronger then a 12bolt.

Well all Id need is a 12 bolt cus I dont plan on making much over 500 to the wheels in the Hawk, The GTA was my beast but I thought for a while Id try the 9in.

Is your new car a stick or an automatic? If it is a stick I would go with the Moser 9 inch. Bob

Agreed with Bob^. 12 bolt will be fine for an automatic but no so good for stick.

I am looking for a 9 inch housing. Pm me a price. That way you could keep your center section for a new 9 inch.
