Fragged a 10-bolt (like thats never happened)
and got video of it
I did a cam-swap 3 weeks ago and decided it needed to check my tuning skills and see whats up. 2 weeks ago I went to the track to get the 11s, did what I did and left. . .
AND I GOT VIDEO! ! !

Good news is the car is clearly putting down power!
I've been lacking motivation lately and decided finally after a week and a half to open it up Wednesday.
Now, the end result was:
lotta little pieces there ehh?
lotta little pieces there too. . .
And a good chunk of them got drained into my oil catch when I opened the rear cover.
ANYWAYS, just so happened to have another posi sitting around. . . and for about 65 bucks I got the car driving again today. Had to have a broken bolt removed from the 2nd posi, shifted the 4.30 ringgear onto the new carrier and there we go. Cleaned the crap out of everything and I mean EVERYTHING, painted quite a bit, greased, sealed, torqued and had tons of fun. Finally finished reassembly today, checked my T/A angle (was -4.6. . . . . . . . .) and now it's -2.5 Drove the car for the first time in 2 weeks. Didn't give it everything, but it drove.

Sorry, no pics, already threw the bad carrier away...
basically, the left and right sidegears were fairly stripped. If I stepped on the gas with the transmission in gear, they would sit stationary while the ring/pinion spun freely. It was so bad, once I had the wheels up in the back, I could turn the driveshaft myself and the wheels wouldn't turn.

well, I went on the cheap on this and put in a third posi unit (z-t again) and so far, it's lasted, but haven't gone to the track. start to finish, I put about 60 into this rebuild and most of that was having the old bearing races pressed off and a broken stud drilled out. I've gotten about 8K miles on the rebuild and so far, so good.

thats why I dont think ill ever be able to afford to go to a drag strip.
The nearest one is about 90 minutes away. and with my luck. ill break something.
side note...what happens at the strip if you break something and cant get it picked up that same day?

Ouch, I snaped one of the 4 bolts in the diagram above off my diff when I shifed into second really hard right as the back wheels hit the lip of a concrete->asphalt transition. It still turned just started to make a thud-thud-thud sound in relation to the rotation of the back wheels, wife gave me a really dirty look
An eaton true-trac replaced the stock unit and its seems work even better than my stock one.

Few upgrades since last visit to this thread...
Got a set of UMI Performance LCAs with roto flex joints, Spohn drag bar, finished my M9 housing with Strange center section, Ford 3.00:1 gears, 35-spline worm-gear posi and Moser axles (stock width). Just installed a few days ago and working on the changes to the drive shaft, some wiring and a bit more. Hows this for old threads?

Yes. The ring and pinion are still in good shape (other than a light whine) and sitting in the 3rd 10-bolt, in my garage. It was the little drop-in gear thingys of the zexel-torsen.
