Is this a 2 series carrier?... pics inside
The carrier on the right (torsen) is the one that came out of my car and I know that it is a 3 series carrier. I blew it up a couple of weeks ago.
The carrier on the left is the one I just bought. The guy selling it advertised it as being "for 3.23 gears and higher" ie a 3 -series carrier.
Look at the two carriers side-by-side. The mounting flange for the ring gear is a different dimension on the two. I am afraid that I got sold a 2 series carrier by mistake. What do y'all think?

The one on the right looks like a Zexel Torsen diff. Based upon the comparison of the two I would say you did buy a 3-series carrier, but the one on the left is a 2-series carrier.
Did you buy your car new? If not then it most certainly could be a 2-series diff. Just because you had a higher gear ratio in it does not mean it is a 3-series, as they make 3.42, 3.73 and even 4.10 all to fit a 2-series carrier. The 2-series has more material on the ring gear below the teeth, which is exactly what it looks like, a 2-series Auburn or Eaton.
Now, if you messed up your post and meant that the one on the RIGHT is the Torsen and the one you just pulled, then yes the one on the left is the 2-series.

Anyone else want to weigh in. I guess I thought that the difference would be more between the area where the ring gear mounts. Are we positive that the one on the left is a 2 series?
