Motive gear "Break in" period.......?
Have about 150 miles & 7 heat cycles in the 3.90's I recently installed. Good enough? Seems to me that heat cycles would be the important factor here. Further, 150 miles aught to be enough to deplenish the phosphorus coating.

Break in isn't as critical with just a gear swap, if you also swapped out bearings and races it's a lot more important to break them in. You're probably good to go.
Any odd noises from the Motive's? Last sent of Motive's I installed had machining issues and made noise, wasn't impressed at all. Took weeks of screwing around to figure out there were gear issues and not install issues. Motive replaced the gear set but that didn't take into account the complaining from the owner and our time screwing with them. I've installed richmonds, superiors, genuine gear, GM OEM and never had issues, the one set of Motive's turned me off for good.

Good luck with Motive Gears. Maybe its just my personal experience but their quality has gone to the ******* over the past several years. I refuse to sell them or install them any more.

I had a set of Motive 4.33's chew themselves up pretty bad. They were set up perfect and made no noise at all from the start, then all the sudden started making a ton of noise. Took it apart and found a ton of metal. Motive said they weren't broken in properly and wouldn't do anything about it. I drove ~200 easy miles and a dozen complete heat cycles before taking it to the track. They told me minimum of 500 easy street miles. Have a set of Richmonds out back now, will never buy anything else again.

I have the Motive Performance (+) light weight 4:30's, For three years and i have split three pos units in my 8.8-31 spline, and cant count how many clutch pack Ive busted ,So now i have a mini spool .and had a M6 with 6000 rpm clutch dumps, and now a 4l80 mvb auto 4400 stall and still have the same gears and still quit, The brake in period i did was from motive, drive 50 miles start and stopping and some highway miles with out cool down during the 50 miles brake in period. then park the car over night for a complete cool down, Then after that ive been giving it hell ever sense. But even with Motive or and brand gears, With the GM 7.5's , There to weak for our f-bodies and with any power adders we need bigger rear ends. When i had the stock rear in my car i broke about evey brand gear i could find and finally broke the axles, That when i built a 8.8. Ive been told by a respective rear end builder, that the 7.5 pinion & pinion shaft are to weak and can flex, coursing gear climbing under extreme loads and destroying the gears. Richmond gears and some others make there ring gear in a 7.625" wich makes the ring gear stronger but the pinion is still the same dia.

28 Spline, 99-03 Cobra Housing. True-trac 28 spline replaced the Ford (Eaton) stock differential. Weak point was the CV axle (center shaft) itself. Axles have been replaces w/ the latest M5 material (better than chrome moly). CV joints are 93 T-bird type.
The one time I had a failure, it was the axle before upgrading to M5 material. The 28 spline end connected to the Differential is not a weak point when using IRS. As noted, it is the axle or center shaft between the CV joints that breaks.
