Are 4.30's okay? Hey guys. I just recently picked up a '02 Camaro/LS1/T56-swapped car. I have a friend who is selling GM 4.30 gears for series 3 carrier brand new in the box. The car now has the stock 10-bolt/3.42 gears from an '02 SS. My question is will 4.30's be okay? Or will they be that much worse than 4.10's that I should stay away from them? I don't wan't to sacrifice 1/4 mile performance at all so I wanted to ask the guys with experience first. Also, what kind of MPG am I looking at with these gears compared to 4.10's? Thanks. |
Gonna wanna run a 28" tall tire on the track for sure |
Don't dump any money into a 10 bolt man. Especially since you're a 6 speed. It's going to blow up. Not maybe, it will. Save your money and get a geared 9" |

Save your money and get a geared 9" I was wanting to do what a friend of mine has done for a while....Go 10's in the 1/4 with bolt-ons/nitrous with the stock 10-bolt. His car is a 6-speed, VDS clutch, 4.10's with Moser hardened axles, Auburn Diff, T/A Cover etc. He's been doing it on the same 10-bolt for a year now, don't ask me how. |
I have a friend that did the same thing... But he seems to have the 'magic touch' with cars... When he drives them, they don't break and they're always faster lol. All of us M6 guys are breakin 10 bolts where I'm at, some of the a4 guys are makin them last into the high 11's... Just not a lot of hope for a 10 bolt in this world lol. |
Yeah i'm beginning to rethink this whole idea. There's a 9" for sale on craigslist for $1500. I'm contemplating. |
snag it...I broke my 10 bolt 3 times. Then the money for a Moser randomly became available |
