Default Guys with BIG CAM and A4 and 4.10 gears?

Im really thinking about gettin these 410 put in because my cam 24x/24x 112 on a stroked 396 is really buggin me that my LOW END sucks. Like getting off the line feel weak to me. Does anyone run 410 with there A4 and love it. I'll be at 90mph on the freeway and my rpm is barely like 2300 in OD. What do you guy think is the best gear setup for me. No a daily driver just out to race and car meets and driven here and there.

90mph in an a4 will be 3500 or higher RPMs, I would not recommend that.. But that would be the best gear for performance..

if its a rare occasion you go 90 for more than a few minuets then 4.11's are fine.
but if you drive 90 for more than 15 minuets i wouldnt do it. the wear on the poor motor would make me go crazy, along with the noise.

If you cant get moving out of the hole then you dont have a big enough torque converter. Gears will help but a converter is the solution to your problem

x2. He's got a big enough motor that off the line should not feel week as long as you have the proper torque converter.

Gears will help, but nowhere near as much as a converter.

Get a bigger converter then you'll have to get 4.10 or higher because you'll need a 28" + tire to hook.

yea sorry guy I forgot to post my stall. As of right now my stall is small a 3k but plain to change it out in the future to a 3500 or 4k. All I want is to have the proper setup...

stock 346cid with a mild 236/238 cam, 4000 Stall Built Tranny and 9" with 4.11 gears here.....runs like a streak of ****. as mentioned before, if youre going to be on the highway a lot go with 3.70 or 3.90. however, in kansas interstate speed limit is 70 so i only turn about 2900 down the highway.

So you guys are saying stay between 373 and 390 maxed. Still a 10 bolt also. It not my DD but I do drive it on the streets here and there and do some freeway.

i'd encourage you to just save the cash youd spend to regear ($250 gears, $100 install kit, and $200 install labor= $650) and just save it for a 12 bolt or 9". I picked my 9" up for 1500+my stock 10 bolt in good working order, and 650 bucks is a good start toward the new rear, especially since its highly likely that you WILL break the 10 bolt at your power level. but if you insist on regearing, I'd do 3.73 if you're sticking with a 26" tall tire.
