Default 3.73's vs 4.10 10-bolt 'strength'

I know 10-bolt and strength don't really belong in the same sentence, but I am curious as to if a 10-bolt could hold up to more abuse with a numerically lower gear ratio, ie 3.73 vs 4.10?
I know theoretically the 3.73's would be stronger due to less torque multiplication, but do they have a larger/stronger pinion also? How about 3.42's even?

The reason I am asking this is that since I have the M29 trans, my effective gearing is lower, thus the need for a numerically higher gear (ie 4.10) is not needed. So if I were to say, run some drag radials, would I have a lesser chance of grenading my 10-bolt with 3.42/3.73 vs 4.10? Just curious as to those with experience with this through an M6.

Default "You're thinking is on the right track"....

JMO, but part of the reasoning that the larger diameter ring & pinions last (ie: Ford 9", Dana 60, GM 12 Bolt) is due to the fact of the larger contact area promoting more strength.
Due to the fact of the 7.5-7.625" Diameter of the F-Body 10 bolt, you will have "more metal" so to speak by utilizing the 3.73's over 4.10's.

Tho with a stick, you're on borrowed time no matter what you do if you try to enjoy the cars Engine and Tranny benefits....

So a 3.73 has more material contact than 4.10, thus helping make them 'stronger' correct? Then I assume my stock 3.42 gears have even more contact than 3.73?

Either way I know they can still break easily, I broke my original 170k rear basically stock hooking on street tires.

Wow, those 4.10's are tiny, no wonder they break so easily!
