Did you even read what I wrote? I said the 4.10 car shifts into the higher gear (with less torque) SOONER. And I'm not talking about seconds here, im saying it can't cover the same velocity in the lower gear than the 3.42 car can. That is a disadvantage for the 4.10 car, no matter how you try to spin it.

who cares if you cant acheive the same velocity in said gear? you cover a few MPH less, but what MPH you do cover, you cover it faster which in turn makes your car get up and go faster. simple as that.

the 4.10 is not at a disadvantage. the gears are so close together in our 6 speeds, that it'll still be in the meat of the power band. those 4.10's will still be pulling on the 3.42. Real world results do not lie. 4.10 car from dig or roll will still come out on top, all else being equal.

i guess all the Pro Mod guys running 5.14 gears and what not are stupid and PeterSellers is the know it all...

let me know what NHRA race you go to next so i can watch you argue in person to Tony Schumacher about how his gear ratio is holding him back.

Careful, you're talking about a drag race. Peter (or Wesman, whichever name he decides to use) is going to argue that his point is still correct during a "roll" race, not a drag race. His belief is that a lower gear ratio is only beneficial in first gear, LOL! So in a drag race the lower geared car will win, but from a roll, both cars will be equal. Hahaha. You've got to love it huh? This thread is classic. I too want to see Mr. Sellers debate with the guys making the big bucks on the pro level. Oh, and Pro Mod FTFW... that class just flat out kicks ***.

Well I just put 4.10's in my car and if you ask me they are the perfect gear for a 6 speed. Actually, I wouldn't mind 4.56's either. But if the guy with 3.73 or 3.42's, which ever he has, wants to race and put this discussion to an end, then lets go. Dead stop or a rolling, we can do both, and I bet I launch him out of the hole both times. I just had 3.73's and I can gurantee you they don't accelerate near as fast.

As entertaining as reading this thread was, after the third page it just got very annoying and repetative.

4.11's are faster than 3.42's, yes...and if the OP doesn't want to think so, move on, he just thinks a more streetable car is better than being one or two tenths faster, but those people usually don't find their way on ls1tech.com
