Ya I don't see that happenin with a 10-bolt.

There is nothing wrong with driving a 9" on the street..I do it all the time, as well as many others.

I killed my 10-bolt at 3450 Track Weight, and that was with a 3600 Stall and 3.73's, I got about 12 mid 1.5 60ft's out of it.

The ten bolts are hit and miss, but live a hell of a lot longer behind an auto thats for sure

yeah..i see there hit or miss..thanks for the info merv..i think me being less then 3k for weight will help me..its def easier on parts vs 3400 an 3600#s like some cars..
im pretty much eliminating all the weak points i think..but the posi..i wish some one made a spool..but welding the tubes will solve the housing twisting which is a killer, solid pinion will solve the crush sleeve from going out of wake an killing my gears, pass axle is an old trick i forgot about till some one reminded me about it the other day..there running 6.20s in the 1/8th in there 3rd gen with juice, an the mykronite process makes the gears harder so they dont break as easy..the spool is the only thing im missing..

the problem with the 7.5 is in the ring gear size. Since it's only 7.5" in diameter, you're transferring a bunch of power through a small little area. That's why the 9", 12 bolt, and S60 all live.....all three are, or almost are 9" diameter ring gears. You could successfully run an 8.8 under high hp conditions as well if you build it correctly. It all depends on how much you beat on your little 7.5 as to how long it'll last. With your power, you should be fine.

yeah..i know the ring gear is the weak point..if a company would step up an build a race ring gear it would help alot..thats why im going with the mykronite deal..it shot peans the ring and polishs it...an yep a 8.8 can take 2400 plus hp when done correctly..bd who runs radials an been 6s uses a 8.8 rear..
