Default New rearend gears

Wondering if I should go from my 2:73 gears to 3:42? How much gas mileage can I expect to lose, do I really care no but curious

I went from 2.73 to 3.73 and think my mileage went from about 22 MPG combined to 20 MPG combined. It didn't drop ET's at the track very much. But it made the car much more fun to drive on the street, which is where the car spends 99% of its time anyway.

I'm assume your car is an A4 since it has 2.73's, so if you really want to have fun with it you should think about throwing a healthy sized stall converter in the car to really wake it up. Thats what I'm in the process of doing right now.

I would do a stall first and gears later, but that's just me.

3.73 + a 3500-ish stall (only thing worth getting for these motors) will make traction on the street with street tires impossibile. Your 2.73s plus the same stall will really wake up the launch without destroying the tires, and the stall will seriously reduce the dead spots from a roll.

Yeah one of my buddies has been working camaros for a while. He had a 94 z28, a 98 z28 and now he has a 73 z28 with an LS1 in it. He told me the same thing do a torque converter and forget the gears. I would love to do it I just don't have much money kicking around at the moment but I guess i know what to save for now.
